    My first exceptional unique

Found my first exceptional unique ever today, was the tigulated mail. Took long enough. Hopefully more are on their way. Also, im semi working on the self found grail. Exactly how many items are there, and if you could break it down by category as well that would be great, ie set, unique. thanks

This is from Busters post in another thread (in red):

"Actually if you count the Rainbow Facet Jewel as 1 item, which I believe you should, the total items add up to 497:

    116 Normal Uniques
    119 Exceptional Uniques
    85 Elite Uniques
    27 Class Specific Uniques
23 Other Uniques (Amulets, Rings, Jewel, Charm)
    62 Normal Sets
    65 Expansion Sets"

People have their personal choice how they count the Rainbow Facets, i count them as 8 different uniques just because it makes it harder to complete the grail.
I think that Gheeds fortune is also counted in.
Check the Atma drop Calculator for different monsters and their dropchance just to know what you can except, altough you dont need that now but much later when your grail will be loaded and youll be looking for specific items or group of items.
I wish you the best of luck, wish I were on your place, those were the most exciting and joyful moments, finding the first items.

you're using a rogue merc? I believe the expression I'm looking for is something along the lines of "lol n00b"... but seriously, fire or cold? And which character is she accompanying? I'm quite interested in the uses of the non-aura mercs - since it's also possible that they have a few more IQ points than the morons we know and love.

I think that was very uncalled for Cheeky since maybe he isnt to act2 nm yet so he doesnt have a chance to get the merc he wants. Now go and play nice

hey NOBODY has been playing longer then me (except maybe blizz developers) and sometimes A1 mercs are fun to choose just to switch things up. you can get some ok effects shot off and some extra damage, and they also try to(more or less) stay out of combat.

people try interesting builds that aren't power builds, so why not choose an interesting merc that isn't a power-merc?

Hadn't made my way to act 2 nm. Just did though and now im using a might merc with my fishymancer. In your guys' opinions, how long is it worth to run andariel at nm? Im grailing so i need the lower end stuff too and i pick up a new unique pretty much everytime i fight her. Since im at it i think ill just post my fishymancer stats. To save space i left out charms etc.

I think you are doing just fine Phosheez.
Dont hurry with the grail, you still have a long way to go.
I could send you a few MF items if you dont want the fun of finding them yourself.

just drop your email if you need those items

    mine is [email protected]

i have to protest here. act1 mercs are great. i use them for every druid and pally i made. yes, they don't do much dmg, but try to think of them and support. riphook is great on them, blind target items is super useful and other ranged mods that can support your melee char. also, they stay alive much better.

I can answer some of this ...

I know you didn't address the question to me, but I'll answer anyhow. :) I have made it standard practice to use a Rogue merc with all my bowazon builds. Usually, my bowazon specializes in cold attack, so I choose a merc with fire arrow. One of my bowazons, Deathstrike, is in Act 5 NM with her original merc, Amplisa, and doing quite well, thank you (having a lvl 19/20 Valk doesn't hurt, either...)! :) She's either at or one level behind me, so she can pretty much equip what I discard and, as a result, she's pretty hardy. Heck, she even survived Normal Baal without having to get resurrected (the Valk, on the other hand .... argh!).

I stayed with Rogue mercs because they seemed to be the smarter of the mercs that could be hired -- although they do get stuck in corners alot or refuse to leave rooms. I never really took to Act 2 mercs -- they seemed so delicate, scatterbrained, and befuzzled -- and the auras they generated never seemed to make any appreciable difference to my character. Except to leave her holding the bag in really tense situations. So, I just decided sniping with my Rogue merc was the way to do things. And, as I said above, having a good-level Valk really takes the pressure off.

    Hope this helps ... (?)

my MA 'sins always use Act1 morons. so does my current Barb. if my character is the tank, why get another when I can have long range artillary support? give'm a decent 3 socket bow, and you're set. Oh, and always cold

I use the original rogue merc with my Boney, none of the auras are all that helpful to him. You've got a golem to tank (and I don't even use him to kill anything just as distraction), so essentially being a ranged char the rogue tends to hang out the back with you. She doesn't die much (unless you get swamped) and if you give her some good gear she's quite helpful. Oh... and I guess I just tend to get a bit too attached to her :innocent:

I'm really not enjoying my current might merc... boy what a moron :bonk:

Sorry guys... I think my previous comment might have been taken the wrong way - I was being ironic when I descended into cattle.net talk - thanks to all those who've shared their experiences of the Rogues - next question (ahem hijack) - how do they compare to the Iron Wolves (as they're both there for artillery support)
