My first Encounter with Diablo Clone .

Well hopefully this was not the last . I was finishing up an abondoned Baal game on east non ladder - game was called 80upbaal14 . Anyways just got done killing Baal with my 89 Bone necro My bone spear on him does 4200 damage . So I spawn him at shenk clear out the area and proceed to try to kill him the only problem is he regens faster the the damage I do - I take a sliver off him and he regens it right back - So after a few minutes of this aided with Thorn Hulks I decide to give my 84 FO sorcy a try same thing Im making no progress . People start flooding the game and I tell them he is dead they all leave except this one disbelieveing Barb . He finds the clone and actually starts slowly taking his life away . I move in with FO and needless to say D clone dies about 60 seconds later - Of course Barb beat me to the anni so cheers to him but I guess im going to have to refigure my strategy against the clone now I seriously thought My bone necro would own him big time - I crush Hell Baal very fast .
Heres the list of the weakness on my Bone necro I thought of .
Only 30 % faster cast . No Sojs yet . Only plus one to skills on ammulet . Only 2 Poision and bone Grand Charms in inventory .
Man I am depressed about this big time .

That also happened to me the first (and only) time I met DC. It was in a Hell game, my ama was doing something (cant remember) but the message appeared and he spawned at the Cain stones. I get my Barb who vrushed him pretty badly with WW and he had about 1/3 of his life left.
After that i wasnt huting him so much anymore (guess it was thx to CB).
Then lots of ppl came in and searched for him and I told them he was dead but they didnt believe me so they found him and took anni :(
I was angry and dissapointed for a while and then decided to make a DC slayer. So now I know Ill get it next time ;)

Nice story, sorry about the anni though - damn those charm-stealing barbs :grrr:

Although the bonemancer is a really powerful char, you would most likely be better of fighting dclone with, say, a nicely equipped hammerdin (obviously :p ), or a zealer with enough CB, a nice fast weapon, some draculs and whatnot. dclone is a piece of cake for these two chars. Not that I want to put our most beloved necro down or anything :uhhuh:

Well, I guess there is a reason why I always spawn DC in a private game :)

My Skelemancer needs a bit of time to finish him (three "rounds" at least, more if I'm unlucky --- 1 - engage, 2 - revives, 3 - finish him), so doing this in a public game is risky.

Lol well if I had the choice I would have spawned him in a private game but he just hit the game I was playing in and that was that .
I know there are ways to try to chase the hot channels but Im not that deeply attached to the game atm .

When you are in a (hell-)game, and the message "Diablo walks the earth" comes up, then the next superunique that gets spawned in the game will spawn as the clone. So, you can choose where you want him.

Note, however, that the message will come up every time someone enters the game, even if the clone has already been dealt with.

As far as SOJs are concerned... people nowadays try to concentrate their selling activity, so if you see "xxx SOJs have been sold to merchants" messages in your game, it's a good idea to keep that game as a world event might occur soon. Unless, of course, you know that you can't handle the clone.

Open wounds? Don't know whether it helps. Crushing blow helps :)

I hunt DC pretty frequently. I find this easier than mfing. The best character I've found is a zealot pally. 24 seconds and he's dead. He uses Stone Crusher, Orphan's Helm, Gores, and Dracs. Basically any caster will suck against him.

Except for skelemancers (don't know about others). I find DC pretty easy --- can't do it in 30 seconds, but I can do it in short time, and with gear bought for pgems. Still aiming to speed things up by getting rid of the Revives, but world events don't really occur every few minutes, and I miss most of them anyway since I can't watch my game 24/7.

If all goes well, I need three rounds:
1) find the tristam portal, spawn DC, make tp in tristam from mule
2) Go to RoF, get Urdar revives. If no urdars are there, look for other CB monsters (that's the step I want to remove... by getting a CB weapon for my merc). Let them beat the crap out of the DC
3) Get new skellies (full army again), go back to DC and let them take off the last few pixels of his health bar

The good thing is: I do this with my normal playchar. I don't need godly gear with absorption and damage-reduction and ias and mega-leech and god-knows-what. I don't need 95% resists. I don't even need prevent monster heal.

And I believe Skelemancers count as "casters".

Pure Blizzard Sorc with maxed out CM and full synergy build can knock out pretty much anything that not CI.

Hammerdins - i heard can take him fairly well.

Main thing is to tank him and not give him a chance to regen. PMH only works for around 30 secs so he pretty hard with 95% all round resistance and massive hit points.

He got constant fire attacks mulitple meteors raining all round can be annoying too

Skelemacers are melee to me, because the majority of the damage you inflict is physical. I'm gald to know a summoner can take him though. I was plannning on using my skelemancer the next time I fight DC fo kicks.

Actually, I see summoners as more of Generals than anything else. Sit back. Throw some curses. Control traffic. I think that's what I like about them most.

FYI, pmh doen't work woth mercs.

I used to use a Conc barb. They take him pretty easy but definitely not the fastest. About 2 minutes with mine. Still good for DC though.

BTW, open wounds works just as good as pmh.

I play mostly solo games, as I find most b-net people immature and boring. One night in another endless mf run with my Trang summoner I got the message/shaking that accompany the spawning of the clone. I thought it'd be funny to try and since it was my first encounter with the big red monster, I couldn't pass it up. I gathered a full army, (RS/SM only around 34, no revies) suited up my merc with crushing blow, and went out to do battle in the den of evil. After my army was destroyed, several times, I resorted to casting gumby over and over, while LR'ing him and using my piddly fire wall to take him out. When he first spawned, I shopped the vendors and found a set of throwing axes with PMH on them, and that's prolly the only reason I made it through. I have screenies, but no where to post, and it's not really that cool anyway.

Your better off Decreping him. The biggest problem i had was doing damage on him consistantly. If i stopped he would regen. the dilema imo is doing enough damage but tanking him at the same time, but i know what you mean. He has got such a wide variety of spells in his arsenal it difficult to keep your minions alive. I was sure if i had like a poison facet or something to take the resistance from him it would have been more affective.

Fought the clone a few times but never solo him with my necro, Only time with my necro was in a group, where i or rather my minions tanked him and the others in the group took him apart from afar.

If i had fleshripper that would have destroyed him with my PD. :cheesy:

I just finished up with my close encounter of the cloned kind. Being unable to tank him myself, using a summoner, I tried the Trang's FIREWALL AND THROWING AXE STRATEGY... to no avail. Eventually I had to ask for help in a channel, bad idea, and some barb stole the charm. Oh well. The problem was... no Urdars at the RoF.

The ONE time they don't show up.
