    My First 1.10 Matriarch

I got into an MP game and got past the Ancients and breezed through Baal to get my first Mat. in 1.10.

The character is Sparky and she's a cheesy Meteorb Sorc. She leveled twice during the quest. Once right before we got to the Ancients and once again after the Ancients.

Finished at level 84. Her gear is as follows:

    Oculus
    Peasant Crown War Hat
    "Rhyme" Grim Shield
    "Stone" Diamond Mail
    IK Gloves, Boots, Belt
Switched out amulet as needed +2 Fire Skills or +2 Cold Skills
    Stone of Jordan
    Dwarf Star
Meteor was at 27 with Fire Skills amulet
Orb was a 28 with Cold Skills amulet (have a +1 cold skills charm)
    CM at 17
    FM at 25 (?)

    Merc. used:
    Upgraded Shaftstop
    Upgraded Kelpie
    Vampire Gaze

It was a lot of fun getting a char. Mat'ed. Hell sure is different in 1.10 than in 1.09!! :)

Now I'll use her to MF while I work on another toon. I used to play Barbs and Paladins exclusively. So, I guess I'll have to try something new. Maybe a Druid will be fun and I know there are Cheesy builds available so, I'll be happy. :)

    Congrats to mat.
You have really strange equipment there (being a sorc), it looks like you wanted to be able to tank monsters yourself.

Not too many difficult areas. The toughest was the tunnels in Act V because of the Gloams. Those things could kill me with 1 or 2 hits. At one point in rescuing Anya, I have about 6 or 7 corpses lying on the ground.

I think part of the problem is my resists were really low.

Regarding my gear...what do you recommend I use for gloves/belt/boots?
I'm assuming that's what you meant about me being part Barb. :)

gloves: frostburns or magefists. chance guards for mf
    boots: war travs or silkweaves
belt: goldwrap for mf, upgraded lenymo. gloom's trap. arachnid mesh.

all are good choices. IIRC the IK belt isn't a bad 'caster' belt anyway. res n life no?

Interesting name! Sparky for a meteorOrb sorc. Were you trying to catch the monsters by surprise? :)

    Congrats

edit-btw, I was thinking the same thing about the strange equip choices. I thought you were all about taking the sorc in close, which is a valid strategy with meteor, or so I hear. I let my merc do that :uhhuh:

Also Stone is an overkill for Sorc, Skin of Vipermagi, Skulder's Ire, Que-Haegan Wisdom are good armors for sorc.

Well, there's my problem. I don't have any of those items. :)

I do have Chance Guards and Goldwrap, but none of the others. Maybe I can put my MF gear on and hit NM Meph. He can drop the other stuff right? I can handle him without much problem...even nekkid. :)

I'm not sure of the stats on IK belt as I'm at work right now.

Fortunately boot/belt/gloves are really good places to get rare items that are just as good as uniques. So just pick up some rares and you might get lucky, especially with boots you can get some that are totally end-game gear.

The IK belt is very nice, except for the 110 strength requirement part:( The boots aren't too shabby either +40% R/W and +44 life and +25% magic find with belt is pretty damn good. It's the gloves that need replacing the most, the dex is nice for block and str for Stormshield but not really all that good.

    Immortal King's Detail
    +36 Defense
    Lightning Resist +31%
    Fire Resist +28%
    +25 To Strength
    +105 Defense (2 items)
+25% Faster Hit Recovery (3 Items)

Nightmare Mephisto is an excellent place to MF, and he can drop most of the stuff that Corax mentioned, except for Arachnid's Mesh.

Yeah, I have the hardest time coming up with names. I was going to go with a Lightning Sorc, but then went Cookie-Cutter instead.

I do end up getting into the mix alot, so the increased defense helps me out more than I'd care to admit. :)

Oh, and on the "Stone" armor, I love that Golem that it lets you cast. He's a funny little guy and I enjoy his company.

Ah, that's cool. I have a "stone" on my werebear and I've never used the golem. I guess I don't want the repair cost to skyrocket ;) .

you can put the armour in the cube with either an ort or a ral. i think its a ral for armour n ort for weapons and your durability and charges will be repaired. doesnt work with eth items though

Although NM Meph can drop those items, Hell Meph can get you even more. Your Bliz Sorc will have no problem. Teleport next to him... Static static static, then hop over the moat and bliz bliz bliz. More experience and more items.

Congrats, especially on taking a different route.

The repair costs aren't all that much. Even after casting the Golem a few times it's not more that 50,000 gold. What else are you going to use the gold for? I am usually maxed in my stash anyway and it gives me a place to use the gold building in my inventory. :)

You can use the unique sword Bloodmoon (Elegant Blade) for prebuffing your Clay Golem...It has charges of lvl 15 Blood Golem which would give a considerable life boost to your Clay Golem. That along with his slow ability and your teleport should allow him to stay alive a bit longer.

This may sound cruel, but I don't mind when he dies. He's more there for decoration than anything else. I actually like casting him...the animation is pretty cool. :)
