My chance to hit is craptacularly low plz HELP

I have a firezon lvl 57, 200 dex now in act 2 nightmare. My chance to hit a steel scarab is only 66% with regular arrow, 87% with maxed immolation arrow.

With a ring +73 attack rating and bow +65 ar I have total ar of 1556

With the same ring but with other bow of +1 skills I have thanks to increased penetrate 1577 ar
(with immolation ar is ~3900)

I had planned to set some points in penetrate but that seems useless since it only increases ar by less than 100 when I need an increase of at least ~2500. Getting better gear seems out of the question since monsters all drop laughable crap like +2 strength amulet or 3-7 cold damage large charm.

How can I increase my ar?!?!?

Angelic combo (angelic set amulet + 1 or 2 of the ring) gives a nice AR boost.

You could also try a few AR charms (they give more than the listed amount since they're multiplied by any AR%)

With Angelic combo : Angelic amulet + 2 rings you should get ~1500 AR bonus (At lvl 60) + 10 in dex + ~115 life...No need to say it will be extremely useful in your case. That or exchange one of the two ring with a RF which would give u less AR but more dex and CBF mode.

First let me say that the LCS (Lying Character Screen) lives up to its name - NONE of the AR bonuses for the Bow skills work if the attack is ranged. Kinda defeats the purpose, huh? Blizzard knows this but as yet it has not been fixed.

Second, my understanding was that the set bonuses that accrue when you are wearing "3 items" only applied when you were wearing three independent items. Thus, the +1 skills and +75 life bonus on "3 items" for the Angelic set do not apply if you wear 1 ammy and 2 rings, only when you wear 1 ammy, 1 ring and either the armor or the sickle.

Still, remember that the "splash" damage arrow skills don't need to hit the target with the arrow in order to do some damage, but it certainly boosts the (physical) damage and helps with leeching.

The suggestions given are good ones, though it depends on the accessibility of items. Several of the low sets items provide AR bonuses in addition to the Angelics combo mentioned. Sigon's helm + one other piece (gloves would be ideal - 30 IAS and 10% LL) give 8 AR/lvl and Hsarus' Boots/belt give 10 AR/lvl.

All of the hard AR pts are further boosted by points in Penetrate, which works by a % boost (and increases with +skills, a near necessity with Immo Zons). Another option is to get an AR merc which also provides an %AR boost. A cheap and flexible option is to boost AR with charms, both straight AR boosters and +dex charms, the latter of which is boosts damage and both of which are boosted by +%AR.

I am sure that there are other simple item options for +AR but they don't come to mind at the moment. Check every item you find, and please don't discount +dex items for the double damage/AR boost.

Finally, as a last resort, re-run some areas to build up lvls, as CtH depends in part on the lvl difference between you and the bad guys. Countess and Pits come to mind for the added item find bonus, and Chaos Sanctuary and False Tombs are target rich (ie Exp rich) environments.

The arrow will stop at the first monster you DON'T hit, then the chance to splash those in range, including the missed monster, is 100%. Its like a Sorc's Fireball, only you get a chance to physically hit, doing more damage and leeching.

I've heard that Blessed Aim is bugged too. Well, for the amazon at least. Since Blessed Aim and Penetrate both use the same state, only one of them will apply. :/

Huh? Is this confirmed by testing? I see no reason why Blessed Aim and Pene should not work together unless it's a bug.

edit: Oops. Just saw RTB's post about Pene+Blessed Aim not stacking in "Jah in WF" thread. It's confirmed then no questions. :grin:

Even with the lack of stacking between BA and Penetrate, I think that the BA merc is a good interim choice until you can get the gear and (Penetrate)stat points built up to where you want them to be.

As an aside, and though you probably already know all of this, but look at Melody in a +2/3 Ama bow (+5/6 bow skills). Gets close to/could beat a Lycander's depending on your other gear, and definitely try an Insight pole.
