Blink-182, simple plan, any musical group that has ever been on nicolodean.
lol, hear that one. I'd have to go with all the "boy bands" and the spice girls. Also, if you go just by musical talent, theres alot of artists that sell albums because they are physically attractive, not because they can sing. Britney Spears is one example. Christina Aguileria can sing, but doesnt. These days she does more of a talking to music.

I agree that bands like Blink and Simple Plan are overrated; they're just cashing in on the punk/pop rage that's been happening recently. The majority of their songs (that I've heard anyway) have no substance.

Linkin Park
Metallica
Nirvana
Blink 182
Justin Timberlake
The Strokes
Kid Rock

Should I continue...?
Linkin Park and Nirvana??? But since you think Linkin Park is overrated, I'm sure that you would have no problem telling us the meaning of the song titled "breaking the habit". I'm also sure that you would have no problem telling us the meaning of the "Somewhere I Belong" music video.

I think Simple Plan and Justin Timberlake are overrated. Britney Spears is really hot and that's why she is famous lol.

I reckon (with a few exceptions e.g. Drive-by Truckers, Liz Phair, Turbonegro, Jucifer, etc.) that pretty much everything after 1979 is overrated. You heard me, 1979. I blame the Democrats.

How many of you have heard a full Blink album? They actually sound better than you'd think. They've also been around longer than all the new bands jumping onto the "punk" scene.

My Overrated list:

Chingy
Brittney Spears (I actually like Toxic, though)
Simple Plan

Downright Sucks list:

Christina Aguilera
Hillary Duff
Good Charlotte (My Ears...BLEED!!!)

I'm also sure that you would have no problem telling us where you get off on questioning an opinion which is entirely subjective

lol it is subjective, but I want to see if he/she even completely understands some of the Linkin Park songs, and yes they do write their own lyrics, since he/she is criticizing them.

Linkin Park is poop. It's pop metal for girls.
I like Linkin Park.

The real question is why are people so critical of popular music that many people like, but they themselves do not? Music is what it is, nothing more, nothing less. I wasn't aware that music was "rated" so to speak. If you like it, listen to it, if you don't, then don't. There's no reason to get angry because some people like music you don't.

If you think Linkin Park is poop, then they probably aren't trying to please you anyway.

Your point? Does someone have to 'understand' a song before they can dismiss the group as not worth their time?

Are you a big fan of poetry? Say, oh I don't know, Shakespeare's sonnets? Do you understand all 150 odd ones? Shouldn't you have to before you can say you dislike them? I'm using this as an example of how absurd you sound, I'm not implying that you dislike the bard.

Are you saying that opinions are not meant to be questions?

Seeing how it is possible to have an interesting conversation based on people's opinions instead of shooting everyone down by saying that opinions can't be debated, I'll give a list myself.

Creed
Dave Matthews Band
John Maier
Nelly
Metallica

If anyone wants, you can have my justification for that list. As for the whole Blink 182 thing, they aren't anything special. I wasn't aware that people were actually of the opinion that Blink 182 was "deep" and "talented" (aside from the drummer, that is), but if they feel that way, they're simply wrong. I own Cheshire Cat, Duderanch and have a burned copy of Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. I really enjoy the first two, and have mixed feelings about the latter. But even while I enjoy those earlier CDs, I don't think they're a incredibly talented or meaningful band, or even that interesting of a band. I just enjoyed the music.

Although I still think Carousel is a damn good songs. There obviously are exceptions.
