    Music in online video games

Many people listen to other music when they play online video games, but what game or games, if applicable, have such good music that you actually listen to it majority of the time?

Gears of war probably because the music signals when all enemies are dead.

The Silent Hill series. The music is so good in fact that I own the soundtracks for all of them sans the original.

I'll admit that I have Final Fantasy Soundtracks and WoW ones also.

I've never purposefully listening to video game music outside of a game. It's mostly orchestral, and that's fine for setting the mood and such, but not something I enjoy listening to by itself.

I keep the Final fantasy 7 boss theme On the harddrive (amoung other songs) on my stereo that I bring to work and see if any people take notice of the particular song.

    It's a catchy tune.

I've got Hell March from Red Alert on my hard drive, plus the theme to Descent 2. There's also Megadeth's Duke Nukem theme, if it counts.

What planet do you live on?

Anyway, the Warcrafts were always superior to the C&Cs in gameplay terms, they made it up in FMV cutscenes.

Was a great intro, of course.

Oh pfft. The starcraft and warcraft games could'nt even compare to the C&C series. Proper resources, a decent max unit count, power plants. Decent air units that where not just land units with a different sprite. The birth of the "super weapons" After pushing blizzard down from the first place piedestal C&C lead the way as blizzard hit it's head on the 3rd place piedestal before falling off compleatly to make room for Chris Taylor and Age of Empires.

And let's not even talk about warcraft 3. All that game was good for was pushing the warcraft lore forward a bit more. All it did gameplay wise was to prove that blizzard was still stuck in the early 90's

Donkey Kong Country (Gang-Plank Galleon, some others if I'm in the mood)
    Extreme-G (some great techno bits)
    Halo (theme song)
Killer Instinct (especially Orchid's stage in both 1 and 2)
Street Fighter (stage music, especially Ryu, Ken, Fei Long, Boxer, and Guile; there are some instrumental remixes of these that I love, too)
Tekken 5 (I'm Here Now and Sparking)
Guilty Gear also has a ton of rock music

And some various old Nintendo titles where I like some of the different music, such as Castlevania, Punch-Out, Rush 'n' Attack, TMNT 4, and Sonic (yeah, that one's not Nintendo; whatever).

There are also plenty of little Flash games I've played where I loved the music so much I searched around until I found it. I do the same with music on YouTube videos (for example, Hocus Pocus by Focus from a Halo video of people flying around in a garbage bin).

    I'll have what he's smoking.

Proper resources? C&C had only one, and it was a ***** to harvest. Sure you could have heaps of units, but they were anonymous cannon fodder and you could never quite tell if you had enough, Warcraft's grouping system made for natural squads of units that mattered to you. If my men died in C&C I'd just churn out another 30. Super weapons were a good advancement, although Starcraft incorporated those. Plus C&C was buggy as ****.

C&C was a great game but the Warcrafts were always better on gameplay. And as for C&C being ahead of Warcraft, well that's just funny.

    The magic of Youtube.

Actually, I think I had to google a Descent 2 fansite for that one.

    I love that theme.
