    Multiplayer Games - Item Drops

Greetings everyone. You may not know me, because I am a newbie, but who cares about all that.

Recently I joined a multiplayer game, and a *zod*, yes *zod rune*, y35 *z0d r00n*, dropped. With a 3 second command lag, I was surprised that I picked it up. I left the game to preserve the rune, and rejoined. I was bombarded with "bad manners", whatever, and was told to give the host the rune. Since the people ingame were, veterans, I returned the zod, meh. (it took very long before I pressed the "tick in the trade window". It was difficult) I'm not saying that, the host suxx00rrxzzz, or the people around suxx000rrrzzz. In fact, they rock. I think they helped me a lot in my SP gaming.

I'm just trying to ask all of you, whether NOT giving the host all drops, is considered as bad manners.

If you think that not giving the host all drops is not considered as bad manners, what do you suggest?

PS: This thread will not change the fact that the zod is the host's.

I voted yes, since I gave him the zod. Mmm... heck.

I never knew you had to give the host all drops either. Or even that he had the pick of the litter. Then again, I don't play a lot of MP. Don't care much about items either. I do my MFing solo an I really don't need whatever drops in the few MP games I play. Regardless of what it is.

I did a MP game the other day with turns and I couldn't help but think,

    "This works so damn well..."

Of course it's heartbreaking if you get Venom Ward on your turn and then the next turn drops Maras and a Zod. Though I doubt it's ever that extreme.

I don't play a lot of MP games either. I'd like to think that the host, good enough to make a game, especially for ppl like me on dial up would get the drops. Everyone in the SPF are generous ppl and would hopefully share the drops about. Well apart from a ZOD :D

AFAIK there is no such "code"

In all of Solo's (the original shinkicker) MP game posts, he had a set of rules posted. One of them was "all major drops go through me".

    That settled any arguements nicely.

Since nobody does that nowadays, I think it's fair game. Often Baal runs are done on a drop rotation system and whoever's turn it is gets everything on the way to baal and what baal drops.

But again, if there's nothing like that agreed, then IMO it's a FFA.

Dashy owes you one Sed ;)

On second thought I say players stop joining in groups and just go every man for himself.

Then when a Zod drops everyone goes hostile and the last remaining player alive gets it.

    Like a feeding frenzy. :p

yeah, and if the host has some manners he puts himself in last on the drop cycle. but to claim all the items...just silly.

Actually folk i started mping with first were mostly friends so we never really had a rule about the drops, was just reasonable with each other. Not sure what we would have done "reasonably" with a Zod though...

Hmm... never had any problems about drops in Mp games before......

For me, the host gets first dibs. The other items the person who wants it can just ask around.

    *shrugs*

    The options are too limited.

There was never "host keeps all", but "host distrubute all".

Host makes the game, therefore, he/she has the rights to decide what to keep. If host decided "I want to keep this, you guys can have the rest." There shouldn't be argument.

All drops are his. He can do whatever he wants with them, give it away, whatever.

    Wow... a zod...a ZOD!!!!

Cogratulations on the find, whoever keeped it.

Yesterday I hosted MP game, no rules were settled about drops, but we were mainly questing, and no 'uber' drops either. The higher rune dropped was 'sol'.

I think drop rotation is the better system. When playing with friends I ususally do 'you keep the drop better fits your build' rule, but well... a ZOD fits everyone...

The host has first rights at the least, but whatever he/she leaves on the ground is up for grabz, after some discussion, i think. Exceptions are potions though. No need to argue about who should get that leet minor healing potion, or something... ;)

Yeah, i know, that potion is too good to be true, and should so be fought over! It's like the one exception that confirms the rule, to nicely scramble a good expression... ;)

Omg, 18 people voted no. I should've kept the zod. Wait, if I did I'll get flamed by everyone, nooo... this is a lose-lose situation.

    BAH!

If 18 people tell you it's okay to strangle puppies, would you do it?

    How about this instead?

    1. Strangle puppies
    2. Die

    I think i'd choose 1. But it's a lose-lose situation.

Edit: No mistake. I would've given anyway. Why?
    1. I wouldn't use the zod, it'll be left in the stash. He'll make more use of it.
    2. He waited so long, too long for the zod, well, what's wrong with doing someone a favour?

The mistake you're making is that you're making the poll about the zod rune after the fact. Should have asked first and then decided...
