Most Popular Barb Weapon? 1/8/05 Edition

Since time has passed since the new runewords have come out and allow most to toy around with them, it would be interesting to know what seems to be the most popular amongst barbarians right now. This is by no means an attempt to persuade or dissuade members from focusing on a certain weapon type, but merely an opinion poll.

For me, because I have always been the oddball of the Barbarians, it's a bow. People tend to enjoy seeing something out of the ordinary whenever I join a game and begin plucking my Witchwild around, causing horrific damage in the form of poison, open wounds, and the occassional Crushing Blow. Sure, I don't dish out the Xk damage other barbs do, but it was never about the damage, just the entertainment value of a Bowbarian. Sadly, my poor little barb has taken some taunting, mostly from Paladins that can't seem to figure out why their Zeal is taking longer to kill something than my swarm of magic arrows, but what can you do? The bow also allows for a slightly more interesting variation on the singer, as all the points used in the Combat Tree have to go elsewhere, and because a Barb in general can take a beating before going down despite his equipment, a Howl-Powered War Cry tends to stun long enough for the rest of my party to run through them.

Put in some input below about what your favorite weapon class is. We won't hate you for it. Really. Well, Hal might.

Frenzy barb with no doubt, I just love the ias and the insane fast run walk, but i dont like when those pesty mages cast im and make me attack and walk slow again!!

Axes, because they have everything you want: dmg, speed, variety, good unique (DC). only bad thing is the horrible look of the BA, but I can cope with that

Axes look too silly.

I voted polearms. Especially the scythe variety. I feel all nostalgic when I remember the cruel giant threshers of quicknesses of yore. Still have one on my lone scnl mule for remembrance. I will always remember the day Larzuk gave me two sockets on that thing

Axes are most effective imo, but if i was going to pick the coolest one, nothing beats a polearm-barb.
the giant-tresher-look (or anything that looks the same) is the ultimate show-off

BAH! Everybody knows that the "thwack" sound a staff makes beats ANY other weapon in coolness

Most effective, axes, it's already proven. Coolest? I say a barb using a Bo Stick is way cooler than any axe.

Always loved spears on a barb ever since playing through 1.00 with a pike using barb (lances didnt drop back then). The WW animation is different and unique and so is the sound.

I have one I'm working on now thats a Tank/Singer. Give me a whisper at *Aduna[wX] on East if you want to see what he uses or if you want to just game. He's at Act5 NM.

The only side-effect of the build is that he can do some small PvP..... and win.
