Here's the vuvuzela version (second half):

Youtube comment: "I hate it when I'm at a vuvuzela-concert and people start to play soccer"

Made the Wiki main/front page Today.
The Symphony No. 8 in E-flat major by Gustav Mahler
Or as most classic buffs think of it
    "Everybody Sing"
I think you can find all the pieces on this page.

This one has The famous Lenny's Leap at 1:55 and his signature on the organist's score at 1:49

lol, Mahler's 8th, Symphony of a Thousand. It is indeed one of the most epic pieces ever.

Most romantic song ever. If that doesn't put a lady in the mood... I dunno what else would :D

I really enjoy Vivaldi's 4 seasons. I dunno what it is about it, but it really does make me imagine the seasons.

    You can find the others.

    EDIT:

Forget Vivaldi. I changed my mind. Grieg is the way to go. Pretty much everything of his is awesome. (just came up in the shuffle)

(I don't have sound on my computer, but I assume thats actually the right music.)

Now you got me listening to all the classical I have... Thanks.

The Ambient CD of the Windham Hill 2-CD set (ambient/acoustic) has some really good songs on it. Vol De Nuit is good. This Yanni one was on there. The guy looks like Jesus painting... good songs though.

I can easily counter that with Beethoven's 3rd symphony, my current favourite.

I particularly like the first two movements and of course, the last one with its immensely grand finale... and the third is pretty nice as well. In short, my favourite symphony of my favourite composer :azn:.

I'm sure I've heard it, or at least a few movements... Just can't remember how it goes.

Whats with scatman in the tags? Scatman isn't classical, cool, but not classic :D

    EDIT: Nevermind. First reply.

Egmont is great, one of my favorites, and not just cuz it was on Tom & Jerry

Eroica is good also, but I love Egmont, it might be my favorite Beethoven, it has less nothing than most Beethoven

Re: Most epic piece of classic/romantic music ?

I actually bought Karajan's+Berliner Symphony Orchestra recordings of all Beethoven symphonies, the ones from 1962/1963 were recommended for noobs like me :azn:. €25 or so, Deutsche Grammophon, definitely worth buying! Definitely better than what's found on youtube.

The 3rd+5th+6th+7th+9th are among my top 10 of classical music! I prefer "serious" pieces and not playful stuff like Mozart (although Mozart was a more complete composer than Beethoven), see also my Wagner postings. Mozart also made pretty epic music, however, just hear the "Lacrimosa" part of his awesome requiem (see post #1) or the famous "Der Hölle Rache" aria (revenge of hell) of the Magic Flute. This is the most epic version I know (by Diana Damrau):

Just hear the ease at which she reaches the highest tones of tha aria. Awesome!

When the snake seduced Eve to eat the forbidden fruit, it probably spoke French, but when god expelled Adam and Eve from the garden Eden, he must have spoken German :D

But my absolute #1 among epic music still is Siegfried's funeral march from Wagner (posting 1 again)!

    I will second Shostakovich:

(And it is neither classic or romantic, but quite epic:)

I'm submitting a new, yet unreleased piece by Thomas Bergersen.

Another deeply moving track is "Time" by Hans Zimmer. Warning: it has been known to cause emotional breakdowns.

Re: Most epic piece of classic/romantic music ?

What about making a youtube link? It certainly won't damage your "snippy, ironic poster" reputation:p. But one which doesn't show "removed because of music industry pedantism"... which destroyed 1/3 of my own links :(

The beginning reminds me of the 10 Commandments movie, at 2:20 it sounds like Pirates of the Carribean - so movie music wasn't just stolen from Wagner... although without Beethoven, there wouldn't have been a Wagner anyway.

Before my affection for classical music, I thought that the Lord of the Rings music the the Empreor's march of Star Wars are epic, but nothing of it can compare to the best movie music composer ever, Wagner (even though movies haven't been invented back then) and his idol, Beethoven.

Well, it isn't surprising, seeing how Wagner is basically the biggest influence in firm score writing.
