Monster respawning in D3

Maybe this have been mentioned before, but i would be nice if monsters are respawn in diablo3, so you don`t need to create hundreds of games if u hunting for xp/items.
Actually i think that this feature will be included in it :)

what u think?

You can't just start a new game?

I never cared much for respawning monsters... I like feeling like I've cleared an area, at least for that play through. Besides, it's easy enough to create a new game. I stopped using real names for my games anyway, I just jam out laksjhfaklsj with a password of airuhaglskdjfn and get on my way :D

I usually do give them real names: Usually Paul Webster or Kate Beans. ;)
<serious>
I doubt making a new game will take longer than 5 sec (i.e. as it is now), so that's no problem.
When monsters respawn, and you die, you're sent back to a point earlier in the area. With the respawning monsters system, you have to fight through another 2 levels of Durance to get to Mephisto again. Sucks.

in d2 u could run away from them anyway, or just br sure to make tp when u enter a new level of the dungeon. :) problem solved, but in d3 there will be no running from battle, as there was in d2.. survival of the fittest.:D die mosnter die:newhere:

id like to see monsters sneaking up on players for once.
you think you've cleared an area and then 50 Fallen jump out at you from nowhere.
Just random ambush's, even from areas you have already cleared :)

Obviously not, this is not a MMORPG, whereby players gather in a single world and continue to grind on boring respawning monsters...

What makes Diablo, a hack and slack RPG unique is that we get to create games and players joins them, not the other way round.

I don't have a formal opinion on this. Neither I think arguing against it because "Diablo is not a MMORPG" is particularly bright. Besides Diablo already has many MMORPG type of features. So clearly this is not a problem.

In any case, I have no preference on this matter. Spawning or no spawning works for me likewise.

I like the satisfaction of clearing all the areas I go into. So I don't think I'd like for things to respawn. And they would get in the way of searching through the loot on the ground.

Well we can play around this idea. Some certain type of monsters could spawn if the game was drawn for too long and no one visited that area after that.

If you kill all demons in an area in the desert, maggots and demon vultures could spawn there, devouring the carcass of the demons.

Or killing all undead monsters in a tomb, but later, more powerful spectres come back to haunt the place after you destroyed their undead bodies.

Killing a certain type of worshiped demons in a dungeon could later spawn cultists.

It could happen after some event, they could be stronger monsters or just regulars, there could be some fun, secret and lucky aparations depending on the place and time you killed them, some weaker, some stronger and sometimes even unique monsters, etc... Just throwing my 2 cents.

But if it was to have monsters respawning ala MMORPG type where they just "appear" out of the blue I would certainly vote against that, it would look extremely ugly in Diablo.

In some ways a re-spawning system would be pretty cool.

Imagine a D2 where players could start with killing Andy, move on to a pit run, kill Mephisto, Clear out Chaos and do Diablo, Go to act 5 with Shenk/Eldritch/Pindle, finish off with the Worldstone and Baal.

By the time you're done with Baal, places like Act 1/2/3 have already started re-spawning and you can go back and do those over again. It's kind of a neat idea to think about.

On the other hand, the speed in which a game takes to create, the randomization of the levels and enemies, the complete resetting of an instanced world opposed to a consistent one like in a MMO makes monster re-spawning mostly pointless. Overall it's a lot more interesting to do the full run and once finished, restart with a new game. The levels will be different and give you a fresh take on the run. Things will be different each time which keeps it from being boring.

Re-spawning is a necessity in a consistent world. For an instanced game like Diablo, monster respawning is unnecessary because you can just start a new game and accomplish the same idea.

I think the only upside of re-spawning is the load on Blizzard servers. With monster re-spawn there would be few games created and less strain on the server, but even that isn't a huge decided factor to introduce such a feature. Plus you would lose a little of the immersion if monsters just came back to life after you killed them within the same game. I like the idea of starting a new game with a clean slate.

Diablo is and will always be a hack & slash rpg, part of that is the fact that when you kill monsters/bosses, they die...they're dead and they stay dead otherwise the story/questline has no meaning anymore.

Picture yourself killing boss in act 1, you move to act 2 with a greeting going "oh thank you thank you for killing that monster for us, we're free again!" later on you're trying to go to act 3 but...nope, sorry, you can't go there, you have to go back to act 1 and kill everything all over again.

Mobs respawning in mmo's where you don't have the option to make a new game is perfect but not in Diablo.
Heck even mmo's have "areas" where mobs dont respawn, they're called instances...just like the games you create on bnet are instances and if you want mobs to come back just make a new game.

I really can't think of a reason that would be good enough to justify mobs respawning instead of creating a new game.

@Telzen :
Completely agree with that too.
