Monday

I either missed the Sunday thread or there wasn't one, so I'll put up the Monday thread if there are no objections (to the thread...I know there'll be objections to the "Monday" part :D ).

This weekend was full of D2 for me. I made my first ever twinked character using the items my MF sorc has been gathering for the past month (well, my Barb got some items from her, too, but he was at level 77 at that time, and was untwinked up to that point). Anyway, on Saturday morning, Paladin Piotyr was born. By the end of the day Saturday, he was level 35 and just past Shenk. As I write this he is now in Act 3 NM at level 55. This tells you two things:

1) Twinking is fun!
2) Wolfgang needs to get a life because he has nothing better to do with his time than sit on his arse in front of his computer all weekend. :D

...Both of which are true! :innocent: I've played, I think, 4 untwinked Pallies since the game came out and never managed to Pat any of them, due to lack of finding decent enough equipment. Piotyr has had stuff ready for him every step of the way, starting with Sigon's full set, then Milabrega's, and finally on to an HoZ, Iceblink, The Atlantean (can't wait until level 65 so I can try out Baranar's!), Guillaume's Face, and Goblin Toe. All this has allowed me to Players 8 through the whole game so far, without exceptions. I've never tried Baal or Ancients, even on Normal, at Players 8, so this is all quite new to me! I know I'll bump them back down, if not for NM than definitely for Hell, but I can't remember when I've had more fun playing this game! Now I finally understand why everyone here loves Doc and ATMA so much! :winner:

Whew...too long for the daily thread, eh?! Well, hope you all had a great weekend and good luck with Monday!

I've been making progress on three new characters, a meteorb sorc, a PS assassin and a Firemaiden. All should be good. Can't wait to MF with my sorc. :D

Bleh... Mondays are teh suXX0r.

I got Kahn, my WW barb, to the last waypoint in Normal difficulty, just waiting to beat Baal into pulp. Now that he's sporting his Shael'ed Hwanin's Bill, he's doing very well. Coupled with his Arreat's face and Duriel's Shell, things are good on all fronts.

Not much else. I did many Hell cows with Darken Rahl, but that didn't turn up much. I got a War Fork, but who cares.

I need this week to be over. Next week I'm on vacation to St. Augustine.

Peace.

This weekend was Spring Fair weekend at school. Tons of vendors show up on campus to hawk their wares, rides get set up in the school parking lots, and food! Oh my the food. Chicken on a stick, funnel cakes, smoothies, yum. Definitely blew a good 20 bucks on a day just on food.

Guster was here as the featured band on saturday night. Unfortunately i forgot to get tickets ahead of time, so instead of being able to say "i saw Guster live!" i can only say "i was once at the same campus where Guster played, w00t!".

D2-wise, my hybrid zon got me into the whole ranged character thing. So i scrapped my hybrid trap/kick assassin and made a new blade fury 'sin instead. Got her all the way to NM this weekend, exactly where the old 'sin was :p This build is almost as safe as the fishymancer thanks to the plethora of crowd-control skills a 'sin has, and much more involved, IMO. And ninja stars are just so cool.

I mostly leveled my zealot in the Pit this weekend. I didn't get more than a couple hours of play time, so it was just 5 or 6 Pit runs at Players 5. I think I ended my gaming session around lvl 77 or 78.

I got rid of the Tal's mask, plate and belt and swapped on a Smoke Wire Fleece (I really like the look of this armor on Pallies), String of Ears, and a Stealskull casque. My leech is going great now. Don't like the skellies though. ;)

I also dropped on a Gimmershred for those PI's, which works pretty well, but I still love, love, love the Crescent Moon Berserker Axe. Having said that I hate, hate, hate repairing it. I could use the cube recipe for repairs, but I don't carry runes on my char, so I'd be going back to town anyway....

I found a War Belt, but nothing else. Well, I did find another +1 to Fire Skills Grand charm which I dumped on a mule. I think I've got a couple fire and a couple lightning now--I'll have to give those away to some sorc players soon. Actually, I really need to clean up my mules and do a big giveaway, but I'm super lazy. I think I'll go hit up the giveaway thread and see what people need.

I did not get much time to play over the weekend, spent most of it working, however I did manage to get my melee sorc through nightmare, and she easily handled baal (just players 4).

Currently my enchantress is at level 63, and I need to do some leveling before I head to hell, but have been too busy to spend much time on her latetly.

Been a long weekend didn't get much time for D2 so I was only able to complete the next quest and waypoint for my passive barb. With 15 levels he is about ready to look for charsi's hammer. Then the fun begins little to no defence only normal attacks and I get to face a poison attack based boss yeah sounds like fun.

At least I got a BigHurtyStickwith enough attack rating to hit 95% on about everything in Act 1 normal.

<insert appropriate time of day> everyone,

Installed a database server on my computer over the weekend. No database yet, but this is all project-related stuff so is probably doomed to failure anyhow.

So I'm looking into courses I can transfer onto that are more suited to me. They don't do courses in D2 yet  so I'm looking into going into teaching, one of the few things that appeals to me... my life might be a mess but maybe I can help out others.

Game-wise, played Sacred rather than D2 and started an Energy Bolt Seraphim. (I seem to have ADD with this game... I have already started ~9-10 characters, I think, but only finished Bronze, the easiest difficulty, once...) Zapping things is fun.

My BFury assassin may get some more attention later, and I may even attempt to take down the Ancients. Again. This time...

Have a good day!

Over the weekend Vixen (hydra-thunderstorm sorc, untwinked, no mercenary) finished off Act 2 NM. Used up a lot of full-rejuv pots tanking Duriel while the hydras finished him off -- I foresee Hell Duriel being a major pain :p

One skeleton boss came up dual fire-lightning immune even using a wand of lower resist. I ended up just parking him -- I'm not sure quite what I'll do if any monster that has to be killed for quest purposes turns up similar.

In other news, saw my first ever black-crowned night herons in the Don Edwards NWR Saturday morning :)

A Big Hurty Stick is the largest weapon one can find with the most ED% +max/min damage +attack rating that the char can get their hands on in my case it was a gambled military pick with ED% +max damage +fire damage +attack rating.

Well I didn't I'd make a separate thread, but I will since I don't want to clog up the daily's... I finished Fafner, the last of the three Pat/Mat's before semi-retirement/hardcore thesis mode. I didn't find anything of use and the ancients were tough as usual, even tougher with a broken mouse (I swapped that crap out with a freshie...too much clickin').

No D2 in the future for awhile, as I just gave my disk (no backups, what kind of an addict am I) to my Korean buddy with strict instructions not to answer any calls from me, or give me the disk until I show him an approved thesis with the bosses signature.

Took my HC paladin through Act 4 normal, and into Harrogath. He's having an easy time of it so far, except for against diablo when he got through 10 super healing potions and 4 full rejuvs - some scary moments there.

Haven't posted on the daily for a while.

Got Ichi, my summoner druid up to the Outer Cloister in a1 NM. Things are easy right now, since I turned the game from /players 8 to /player 5. The ol' bear is trashing EVERYTHING in 1-2 hits. Even uniques and champions. He even smacked a stone skin Carver boss down in one hit. That's always fun to see. :) The Summoner druid was the first HC character I ever got into NM, but the last one died at Duriel, because I got stupid and decided to try and finish him off myself instead of ressurecting my merc and my wolves for the last 2 microns of health on Duriel's bar.

A question for the panel: I've been using an A3 Ice merc (The character was originally part of a tournament were extra points were alloted for using A3 mercs) and it seems to be working well, but I'm debating weather or not to switch to the ever useful Might merc once I get there. While the Ice merc doesn't do a huge amount of damage, the fact that he freezes everything is a big bonus. Especially around things that like to reivive others. Shattering everything when it gets killed means a lot less of those things to get revived and annoy me some more. On the other hand, shattering everything makes my Carrion Vine little more than a distraction for monsters most of the time. Plus, I'm not sure how much of a damage bonus the bear will get. The bear adds +215% to his own damage, and I'm going to assume that Might will use the base damage (rather than the listed max damage) for calculating the bonus. While an extra ~150-200 damage would be kind of nice, I don't really forsee it being worth giving up my trusty Ice merc. But then there's the fact that the ol' A2 merc will be able to dish out several hundred damage points on his own, instead of the (what seems to be) ~120 damage from the Glacial Spike... Oh, choices, choices... Still got 1/2 an act to figure it out though.

:drink:
Cheers!

You could always try something in-between by getting a Holy Freeze merc... they'd slow down (but not totally freeze) enemies, and be able to deal damage too. If by some stroke of luck you happen across an Iceblink (or other item with Hit Freezes Target) then you'll get some freezing too...

Shade - Good thinking. Never even thought of that. This is the first time I've gone this far with an A3 merc (and he's only died once too, against...uh...something in A5. I think he got cornered by some frozen guys. Don't remember.) and I have always gotten the trusty Might Merc when I get to A2 NM. Holy Freeze merc it is!
Oh. if it sucks, then I'm going to to come have words with you. :D
