Min > Max?

Min > Max?

So you know those weapons you find in Act 1, that have like 5 to min dmg. So the weapon dmg turns out to be something like 13-14, right. Well, if you socketed that with a +5min dmg jewel, what would happen?

My guess is that the universe would implode in on itself.

Correct. The item remains untouched by the imploded universe though.

Otherwise I would have guessed that the max damage is increased so that it is 1 above the new min damage. Or rather, no need to guess since that is what happens (in addition to the imploding universe).

Weird, that would mean that the jewel would be treated as a "5 to min 5 to max jewel". Wouldnt it be smarter to just switch them. I mean the new min damage, which is higher than the old max damage, would become the new max damage. Much smarter. But if this is not the case, then so be it. :)

Yes, the max damage will increase so it´s 1 higher than the minimum. A good way to spend those early jewels, since the average damage will raise much more than if you add a +max damage jewel of the same value. Also, I think it´s an advantage to do damage with little variation, because then you quickly learn how many hits you need to slay the different monsters.

The simplest form of my preferred twinking weapon is a 6-socket normal weapon (only War Axe, Crystal Sword or Military Pick can get 6s) with 6 +4 min Jewels of Joyfulness in them. Adds +24 min which will always also raise the max. And usable at level 3.

A more elaborate version uses low ilvl rare jewels to get of Freedom on there as well so I can twink it on to sorcs etc at level 3. Usually getting two mods you want on a rare is very hard but at extremely low levels there are not many options so it is more likely to get what you want.

At level 6 you can use Scarlet Jewels which can also be up to +4 min. Higher +min mods do not appear until much later though after that.

So a Scarlet Jewel of Joyfulness can give you +8 min, usable at level 6.

Think about the meaning of "minimum damage" and "maximum damage" if you raise the minimum damage you can deal with a weapon it follows logically that also the maximum must be higher.
