Midlevel Hunter Bow Choice?

Hey all,

I was wondering what bow hunters use midlevels now (30-60). Kuko is always a great choice, but how does it compare with a Harmony Bow?

Or perhaps some other option?

My hunter used kuko from lvl 33-51. Kuko still is an excellent choice until about Act 3-4 nm. By this time your minions are doing ok damage and the aoe of explosive arrow is weak and not needed as much as a powerful attack against a single unique monster. I switched to a Harmony great bow at lvl 51. And it was so impressive that I wish I would have made one in a double bow so that I could have used it at lvl 39, lvl for ko rune.

Vigor is a HUGE advantage with minions. It keeps them from falling so far behind and when their ai picks up a monster they move quickly to attack it so you don't spend time running away and repositioning them.

The valk is like having a 1 point grizzly. It's damage is pathetic but it will tank most of nm.

Right now my huntermentalist uses Harmony great bow (271%ed +6 valk) with Widowmaker on switch for hell.

I'd old school kuko it .... vigor bah !!!!

kuko gives piercing, explosion .. and if you stack enough cb you do very well at mid lvls. I also like demon machine but req. lvl 49.

I'd keep a witch wild for the hell of it. The speed and power of it is very impressive for its level, and you can upgrade it while you level if this is ladder.

I'm also old school and like my kuko but then again I would not mind making a ladder hunter to try some of these new runeword bows.

Just thought I would add that if you go kuko you should consider the spirit forge, lavagout/hellmouth, and infernostride combo. All that extra fire damage will push you to lvl 60 pretty easily. Only slow spot would be act 4 nm where half the monsters are going to have 50% or more fire resist or be immune. The multiple types of elemental damage on Harmony is part of the reason I prefer it for later nm.

Hmm, I would like to add Riphook to the list of sweet midlevel bows.

The speed is nasty, the damage OK and Open Wounds and Slows Target are nice mods. You'll pump out arrows at a furious clip with this one, so the mods should be triggering constantly.

When you get a bit higher in the levels you might consider everyone's favourite: Witchwild String, or maybe even the damage spectacular that is Goldstrike Arch.


Still, I will be chanting: "Go Riphook, Go Riphook!".

Kuko, Witchwild string on switch.... it kept my hunter, Amzer, good until i could use the Eaglehorn i found on a random pit run while i was half asleep. somehow i think there was something i used before the eagle though... can't remember now, it was so long ago.
