MFing Questions

1) With Failed Set/Uniques becoming RARE/Magic items with double or quadrupled durability, is it failed unique = rare and failed set=magic or is it failed unique = rare or magic and failed set = rare or magic?
2) is there anyway to prevent failed unique/set or is it only because there does not exist a set/unique for that item type? this ties in with the first question. i got a magic shako with double durability and so if magic means failed set, i think there is no set shako so that would make sense.

Thanks, i hope i was coherent.

A failed Unique becomes a Rare item with 3x durability.
A failed Set becomes a Magic item with 2x durability.

There is no way to prevent failed set/uniques.
Failed uniques drop because there is no unique items asociated with that base item, or because monster's lvl is too low for dropping that unique or because that unique dropped before in the game.
Failed set drop only because there is no set item asociated with that base item.

just means that the game tries to make it unique but there is no such thing therefore it gives an item of the same base but lower quality

Yeah, like the maker of the post said: if the mf roll didn't success on a unique shako to drop, it would check for a set shako... As there is none in the game, on a successful mf roll for a set item it would be automatically made a magical shako with double durability and would be calles a failed set item.
