Mf'ing in Chaos sanctuary?

I was thinking of doing some CS runs(nm) to get some runes(I heard the manaburn missile monsters drop well) and some general mf'ing in chaos sanctuary and Diablo of course. I've come to think of this since I've heard you can't leach life from Mephisto or Baal, but I've noticed my merc leaching from Diablo so...

My idea is to get some experience under my hammerdins belt(and hopefully some usefull stuff) before tackling the ancients(sp) in nm. Pindle seems to be buffed up and dangerous and since Diablo was such a pushover...

If you have some really cheap mf gear for a hammerdin in mind(I don't have Tanchreds hobnails), I wouldn't mind the advice. At the moment my gear is Angelic(need to find the amulet so I can change the hideous armor to a Stealth cuirass), 35%mf boots+cold res, 34% mf amulet, Blades buckle belt, low mf Tarnhelm, Chance guards and a Rhyme grim shield.
My merc has once upgraded Woestaff(don't laugh I'm poor), Tal's mask and Boneflesh.

Any input is welcome.

Do you mean the drops from CS(nm)+Diablo are worse than say... Durance2&3+Mephisto. If this is the case, I guess I have to keep to Meph. He allways kills my merc though(unless I use 5+ rejuvs on the his sorry hide).

Countess:
- Normal: El - Ral
- Nightmare: El - Io/Ko (Above Io is much rarer)
- Hell: El - Ist/Lo (Above Ist is much rarer)

For runes i think Countess is a better choice. With MF you could collect both items from the monsters in the Tower. Alot of bosses in that Tower. . .

And in the last room, the runes await you

Thank you for the info 'MATE, but as I said, the possibility of finding runes was a bonus, not the objective. What I want is to find something useable, get some exp and generally do something more complex than Pindle(not saying that he is easy, just too predictable). In act1 I don't expect to find anything major(merc weapon is a consern) and I thought nm Countess was quite a low mlvl. Am I wrong?

well IIRC for rune finding your MF does squat, just set your players setting higher to get more drops. I'd prefer an area with more chests and drops for rune finding, they were kind to me MF running is about ease of running, so if CS is easier than Meph for you, by all means do it.

Well, if your MFing, Meph is IMO the best choice, but he gets boring fast.

CS runs have alot of bosses too, and Wraiths have good rune drop, and CS has Big D in the end. Maybe something to try out.

And as rdjeke said, MF doesnt help runedrops.

No you didn't misread. I just expressed my situation poorly.

That was just what I was thinking. With all the seal superuniques I even possibly would have a chance of actually finding something usefull. Especially the Grand visir one might be good since wouldn it there be a good chance of finding runes from it while mf'ing? I got excited about the rune thing just yesterday since I found a Lem from pindle and thought to try my luck next week in CS for some interesting mf/rune hunting fun (Oblivion knights are interesting challenge).

Since you cant Hp leech Mephisto, try putting a weapon that has slow on your merc instead. This should help him live without feeding him so many Rejuv potions. Kelpie Snare is not a bad weapon for when you cant leech big mobs but need them slowed.

The Grand Vizier drops just like a normal SuperUnique, but his minions have the usual marginally-better-than average rune drop rate from Wraith-types.

That slow suggestion was good, but Woestave already has 50% and he is still suffering. I guess I could change his helmet to Blackhorn's face specially(once I get rid of everyone else) for Baal for the extra 20%. A little bit of a annoyance, keeping the mask with me all the way and everything, but it could be workable...

I've found a Tal Rasha's Guardianship (Lacquered Plate) doing normal play(HELL), with low MF. , it was very nice but never got any good rune there, but the drops in Hell could be very nice, is a Lv85 Area.

I won't be finding any of those in nightmare difficulty, but once I am confident enough to do battle with the ancients and beat Baal, The Pit awaits...

It really is. The only items that might be better are an ethereal Reaper's Toll or Hone Sundan.
