mf plateau?

mf plateau?

I made a blizz sorc for meph runs, and she was doing really really well. i quickly filled up a few mules and got to the point where i could ignore almost all the sets and uniques and dropped.

however, i then made a splendor shield, and suddenly i stopped getting uniques and sets totally, for about 20 runs in a row. needless to say i was incredibly disappointed and discouraged.

however, after checking my eq, i realized the splendor shield was on the wrong weapon switch. my eq:
spectral shard/splendor
clean ali baba (86 mf)/ancient's pledge
3 topz helm
4 topz armor
37 chance guards
goldwrap
rings, ammy, boots (no mf)
1X5% mf charm.

when i switched the splendor to the ali baba side, the drops went back to roughly what i expected, maybe 1 unique every 1-2 runs, 1 set item per run.

i remember from an earlier version there was a point where mf kicked in, or "plateaus." is there something similar happening now? from what i can tell, the plateau is at around 300 mf:

with splendor: 335%
without: 315%

That reminds me of that scientist who wanted to find out why people get drunk from beer, wine and whisky. It must be a common component and he quickly found one: Water.

Honestly, it was pure incidence. There are no magic MF numbers.

Very funny!
There shall be much mor Nobel Price for game science, which engaged in curious game facts like. May be the relationship between mf rate and moral.

Because of the diminishing returns of rare/set/unique mf there are breakpoints. However, around 300% they should be very close together. I wonder how far apart they are when it comes to 750+% mf, which is what my blizz sorc has.

EDIT: She has 794% MF at clvl 93. 94 not far away.
Possible improvements:
Weapon: could have 27% more (IstIstIstIstIstIst crystal sword instead of IstIst Ali Baba)
ring1: could have 1% more
ring2: could have 3% more
Shield: could have 75% more (4 Ists instead of rhyme... YAY!)
Boots: could have 3% more
armor: could have 1% more (Ist skullders...)
Helm: could have 36% more (jewelers tiara of luck, IstIstIst instead of topaz shako)
Amulet: could have 16% more (50% instead of 17resistall/34%mf)
Charms: could have 3% more with space for cube, ID tome and one 2x4 item, could have even 112% more by ditching cube, free space and tome, and keep items on cursor.

This makes for exactly 277% worth of improvements, however, I wouldn't use 14 more Ist runes just to gain a very few extra % MF.
According to ATMA, 794% MF = 190% more uniques, 306% more sets and 341% more rares.
1044 (the max for a sorc killing for herself as far as I know) gives a stunning 201% unique 338% set 381%rares...

So adding 277% MF by using 14 Ists and not having any free space at all... The last breakpoint seems to be from 1025 (200) to 1026 (201) for uniques.

Do you count Fortitious rings of Fortune (40%) or just nagels? I don't believe that you have two of those (39 and 37).

Despite I still pick up every blue ring, I never found one. I will keep look for them.

I too, always pick them up. The only ones I don't pick up are green ones, since they are never any better than those I already have. ALWAYS looking to improve my MF, and I keep every MF SC since I MF with a lot of different characters, and don't like to move them around all the time. Same goes for ammys, green ammys I still pick up, tho, as I have only one tal ammy.

if you have all this stuff ( and 14 ist's ) why do you still need to mf ?
