MF pits

Does it matter what level I am to magic find in the pits to find Death Fathom and Nightwings Veil? Also what is the recommended amount of magic find for the pits?

(I'm level 80 on ladder)

Your level has no effect on monster drops.

The "recommended" amount of MF is "as much as you can fit into your gear without sacrificing (too much) killing efficiency.

MF has severe diminishing returns, so at least until 100%, maybe until 200% "every bit counts":

100% mf -> 71% better chance for unique
100% mf -> 83% better chance for set
100% mf -> 85% better chance for rare

200% mf -> 111% better chance for unique
200% mf -> 142% better chance for set
200% mf -> 150% better chance for rare

300% mf -> 136% better chance for unique
300% mf -> 187% better chance for set
300% mf -> 200% better chance for rare

As you can see, the benefits drop off fast, but on the other hand the "first few MF%" give the most benefit.

I have 193% MF, hopefully there is not much cold immunes in the Pits. If there is is there any other high TC areas with few to no cold immunes?

The Ancient Tunnels in the Lost City in act 2 is a level 85 area that has no cold immunes whatsoever, except for the occasional unique monster that may be cold enchanted or whatever.

pits has
cold immune skeletons
cold immune dark lancers (or whatver)
fire immune devilkin and shaman
light immune dark archers
and the occasional double immune unq
