has anyone ever tried to use an avenger as an mf character? i was thinking something like

10-15 in veng
14-16 light res
14-16 cold res
14-16 fire res
14-16 conviction
rest into holy shield

then have equipment be
shako ptopaz or um
any weapon would do fine i guess...maybe a beast...or botd (i lack leech on other items...so the dual leech loooks very good...but most bosses you cant leech off of anyways...)

switch weapon = whiz spike
switch shield = lidless
enigma
war travs
chancies
maras
raven and dual leech ring or whatever

do you think this could work? sorry for terrible grammar and lay out of this post, but its late. id use the whiz spike and the lidless to teleport to places (whiz allows you to keep max res...and with holy shield you can still have a *decent* block rate with lidless). plus with some good charms you can have 80+ res to all and 300+mf and be able to kill any monster in the game. of course this would be a slow pit runner (one guy at a time...it could work though) but for things like baal, you can clear the throne out easily and be able to take out baal no sweat. plus it is a decent pvm build.

does anyone have any experience with a build like this? do you think it could work? and also, i want a character without any skills maxxed, so that would be kinda cool to have no maxed skills.

If you're planning to do this on Ladder, forget about it. (too equipment dependant, too slow compared to other classes). For NL, just make an enigma hammerdin (So what he can't kill everything, but he can kill anything that's WORTH KILLING and does the job about 10x faster).

I agree with this... dual isted alibaba (if you can afford enigma, I'm hoping you could afford 2x ists.)

The final blow seems like it'd be awfully slow, though. Avenger doesn't seem like it'd be nearly as efficient as an elemental zealot, who doesn't rely at all on physical damage. So you could make a teslafister (so you could even cast FoH, which would be a great way to deliver that final blow) or simply a tesladin/frosty, and use dual isted alibaba on switch, as well as dual nagels, ptopazed shako (needed for built anyway), etc...

Teslafister, Tesladin, or Frosty seem like much more viable MF builds than an avenger... :wave:

And you made the point that you didn't like hammerdins where ? I was replying to your need to make a MF character - from my (extensive) experience, they aren't a good choice. Anyway, as others have listed, avengers aren't good MFers, plain and simple (killing speed too slow and too much equipment reliance). Though if you have spare gear and feel like making one, I'm not going to stand in your way.
