MF Hammerdin: Please help me with my first hammerdin!

hello. I made like a mf zealot like an year ago but didn't work out. Then i made a MF thrower with dual babas but he didn't quite fancy me lol and niether did my MF tri-sorc. So now i want to try a MF hammerdin. Here are my questions:

1. What would be the ideal setup for gear for a hammerdin who wants to maximize hammer damage, have max resists, good FCR, good overall mf and good survivability? This is what I am going to get so any suggestions on this would be nice: (BTW, im not very rich so bear that in mind)

Ptopazed Shako
Ptopazed Ethereal Skullders
Frostburns
War Travs 40%
2x SOJs
Goldwrap
Wizspike
Umed Herald of Zakarum
Maras or rare or magical +2 pally ammy with fcr
Anni and gheeds in stash
Maybe some skillers and mf charms

2. This might be a noob question but i couldn't find it in the two hammerdin guides or anywhere else: Does Concentration only add 50% of the damage listed to Blessed Hammer or all of it?

3. What is the total resists I should get to get max resists in hell if i do anya. I know that its something like +30 res from anya quests but then i dunno about the penalties. I heard it was around 145 resists total without anya quests or something.

4. How do position hammers to kill monsters? I heard that one should shoot hammers from 10:00 and 2:00 positions or something like that?

5. Last question(s): what runs can i most likely do with a mf hammerdin? Which runs are the best to do with a hammerdin to get good items? Are hammerdins good for rushing?

Thanks in advance to anyone who will answer these noob questions for me. I looked in the 2 hammerdin guides and used the search feature but i couldn't find what i needed to know specifically.

1. Your set-up looks good, but you may want to swap out frosties for upped magefists (for FCR) or upped chancies (for MF.) FCR really isn't a huge deal while MFing. I mean, of course it gets your first hammer out faster, but I have 0 FCR, and 495% MF, and he does fine anywhere in hell, even a solo baal run. I'm going to tweak up your setup to what I would do, personally, but note that FCR is not high on my list of things-to-do:

-PTopazed Shako
-PTopazed Ethereal Skullders (Try Upping at some point)
-Upped Magefists/Chancies
-War Travs 40%
-2x SOJs (Could always pull some of these out for rare/magic MF rings or nagels)
- Upped Goldwrap (More potion slots, more defense, cheap to do.)
-Wizspike / Ali-baba or Gull on switch. Ist them if you can, if you can't, find some MF jewels and throw them in.
-Umed Herald of Zakarum (Add up your resist, if a PDia is enough, use a PDia. You said you're not exactly rich, so save that Um to trade for something better, or use for something more important than 3 more resists.)
-Maras or rare or magical +2 pally ammy with fcr (Resistances here is more important than FCR. Remember that. +Life is always cool too. Mara's is my choice, but rares can potentially be better. If you can get FCR here, go for it, but it's really not all that necessary.)
-Anni and gheeds in stash (Try really hard to get these. They'll be extremely beneficial to you.)
-Maybe some skillers and mf charms (Other good choices. Try to get +life/mana charms here, too. They're really useful.)

2. Yes, concentration only yields a 50% bonus of what is listed as the enhanced damage to the blessed hammers. But it's more than enough, trust me.

3. With your current setup, it doesn't look like you'll be running into a lot of resistance problems at all. In fact, with a wizzy as your main weapon, you should be 100% fine. If you need a little more, socket your wizzy with a resist all jewel.

4. Seriously, just practice. You'll get the hang of it, and acquire your own playing style. Trust me.

5. You can basically do any run. I'm a little sketchy on Pindle, since I have trouble there (they hurt, hehe), but I would highly recommend doing a variety of places, including, but not limited to:

-Countess
-Andy
-The Pits (and other lvl85 areas)
-Travincial
-Mephisto
-CS/Diablo
-Shenk/Eldritch
-Pindle (at your own risk)
-WS/Baal

And yes, hammerdins are awesome at rushing. You should have no problem at all with a little practice, no lag, and some decent equipment. I think you'll enjoy yourself. This class is the most overpowered class in 1.10.

Chance Guards 40%
Craft ammy 2pala 20fcr some resist and 9 mf

Well, there's a little problem with that. Hammerdins suck, and I mean really suck in the Maggot lair. For this, there's only one cure: Enigma. Which is where hammerdins lack in rushing ability, since enigs are very hard to get.

On my old hammerdin in season 1, I had a wiz spike and that was enough fcr for me.

Well hammerdin w/o enigma (specially MF one) crippled on 75% so you top proprity should be getting one. Once you become happy owner of enigma your wealth will grow expotentially (rushing!) so you will able afford everything else..
You dont need SoJs - get combo wisp protector/dwarf star and you will be virtually immune to black souls, vipers, diablo, death lords and so list goes...
Dont use wizardspike - get HOTO this along will boost damage of your hammer by 3k and! your deffense by 2-3K (because if HS)
Dont use goldwrap - get arachnid mesh
Rememer MF have diminishing return past mark 250 (for unique) aka with 1100MF you will just 20% more chance find uniques compare to 250MF so
Ptopaz shako (74)
Enigma (90+)
Gheeds (20-40)
Wartrevelers (30-50)
+some 7smfc will cover all your MF needs for regular runs
on a switch if you really want you can get gul/ali + 4Ist kurast sheild for killing blow for bosses
Remember succefull MFing is all about ration time/wealth and person who need like 10 min to kill baal with 1100MF will much less wealthy then person who need 3 min to kill baal with 250MF
Any just last few remarks...
As as MF hammerdin you need aim for next things
~10K hammer at 75FCR with base 250+MF/400MF on switch maxed resistance in hell, ability to teleport

Wow, soo many replies. Thx to everyone who replied and answered my questions. Btw, im making my char on non-ladder so i wouldn't be able to upgrade the exceptionals to elite but i will be able to upgrade the normal to exceptional. Also, I have some items that i can easily trade (i hope) for some of the items on my gear list such as the umed herald and the eth skullders and such but im not rich enough to get enigma heh.
If anyone has the eth skullders and/or the umed herald by any chance, plz pm me and maybe we can work out a deal :) Thanks again

There's alternatives. Firstly, if enigma is not available, than an amulet with teleport charges, or merely an alternate attack (charge w/ a good weapon, or vengeance) should take care of some. I used charge with a good, high damage weapon, and it worked okay. It took awhile, but I got through it.

Teleport charges are available on various items, and it's not typically hard to get a hold of one. Whether it be Naj's staff, spellsteel, or an amulet with some charges on it (I get them to show up a lot on crafted amulets.) There are many alternatives, so they don't necessarily "suck" at maggot lair, they're just not the best, unless you have an enigma ready.

The wisp/dwarf is a good idea if you're having trouble with them... if you don't, BK rings would probably be a better choice, as they add to skills and life. However, if you are having mana troubles, SOJs are good. I'd still prefer and SOJ + a BK so I get a bit of both, but that's just me.

Also, wizardspike is a fine choice, the resistances and FCR are better, and it's MUCH cheaper. However, if you choose to take the wisp/dwarf idea, to become godly against hard monsters like that, I'd suggest looking into a HotO as well... the +3 skills would easily let you sacrifice the 2 SOJ/BK rings, but you may have to find some additional resistances through socketing Um/Res all jewels, or simply charms.
