MF Barb, need help

Hi all, I'm enjoying my MF/PvM barb, I'm currently running Pindle/Shenk/Eldrich, Pit, Andarial, Duriel (yes really, I kind of like the tombs - really it's because I'm too scared of dying to IM and want longer MF runs - so I don't have to repeat killing the same mob all the time) and Mephisto.

Here's my current setup:

G. Face socketed with ED jewel
Metalgrid
Ravenfrost
Dual leech ring with AR
String of Ears
Oath Balrog Blade (can't afford an EBOTD yet), Balrog Blade looks much better anyway.
Steelrend
Stormshield socketed with ED jewel
Skulder's Ire (can't afford an Enigma yet too)
Goreriders

This gives me:
50% Crushing Blow
30% Deadly Strike, and 21% from skill
75% Resist All
50% Physical Damage Reduction
75% Chance to Blow

Whirlwind Damage: 882-4601
Concentrate Damage: 1088-5679
Berserk Damage: 1150-6007

2192 Life and 309 mana after BO.
17841 Defense after shout.

The usual WW skills, max shout,bo,mastery,ww and one-pointers. Mostly a titan setup.

I'm looking for ways to improve on this char, is all there is to it now just getting an EBOTD and Enigma? G.Face seems to function better than Arreats, the CB+DS really seems to boost my killing speed. He can handle everything thrown at him - except persky out of the blue IM (in other words mages hidden in corners). Small charms take care of resistances I might lack from Arreat's.

PS: I refuse to use axes, it's just me being silly. But I really like swords better. :p

Though the metalgrid gives a nice ar and res boost I'd say go with a highlords wrath amulet for the added deadly strike. Also has +1skills and light res to make up a bit for res and ar lost. Maybe verdungos belt is an alternative to string of ears; it lacks leech but 40 vita can be a huge lifeboost and on hc that might be better than the ll from soe. As for the rest I don't think anything can be improved much without using expensive equipment. If you were on sc I'd suggest going 2handed :xsmile:

Btw, are you using echoings on switch or mfswitch? Maybe if you can't improve your own char you can work on your merc :)

my barb and some questions

hey dude that is some cool stuff on your barb so far about how much mf are you averaging? right now this is what my guy is wearing
IK helm (looking for ists or ptopazs to put here)

goldwrap belt
2 soj
eye of etlich amulet
war travelers boots
chance guards
two blade of ali baba each with dual ist
in my stash i have 2 barb grand charms for warcries and combat skills as well as 8 small mf charms :surprise:

as soon as beefyguy hits 62 i have a shako and a gheeds fortune and at lvl 65 i have an enigma i can use to help out with the mf i think i am averaging about 400%+ right now and i am getting some pretty good stuff. what level is your battle command battle orders and shout at? also what kind of barb are you using, titan, ww, your own build? good luck with your build

my very first mf char was a ww/con barb. he used the following:

Arreats with p-topaz
upped skullders with p-topaz
stormshield with p-diamond
verdungo (later skill belt)
war travellers
highlords
draculs
ravenfrost
rare ring with uber resists
247 ed grandfather + shael

alibabas on switch for more mf but later went for echo weapons.

charms, mfsc, mflc , resist sc and lc, and war cry gcs

i had after BO:

3k hp
16k AR
1xK DR (can't remember dat far back)

he did the job pretty well, i ran all kinds of runs with him (except anywhere with IM) and he was my bread and butter until i could afford a IK set, which became my next bread and better and after that, my metor orb.

Ur setup is pretty alright, but you might wanna try tal rasha's belt (more mf and dex and to hit converts to mana...useful for ww), verdungo (multiple useful mods) or skill belt (aka aracnid mesh). Honesty, arreats is very nice...the additional to skills and leech is very cool, just need to load up on more resist scs if so, but the + skills go a long way.

you might wanna stuff ur invent with a good mf% gheeds, if you can run around killing stuff without switching with around 350-400 mf, dat's gud enuff.

needless 2 say, dual echo weapons on switch are vital for a big bad BO.

Lol that thing. Yeah it's pretty cool I put it on my merc if i have no spare helms. But the poster pimped it up with ED jewel PLUS he had a decent damage, but CB is still better? I'd go for DS.

It got 15% DS too, I just totally love that helmet. :-D

I'll try to trade for a Highlords and compare my killspeed to what I got now, if I drop Metalgrid Arreat's Face might be better than G.Face for the AR bonus, hmm. I got almost 200% Magic Find and mucho higher when horking (using double Ali Baba for horking and double echoing for BO/Shouting).

I just realized I need to improve my merc, Obedience looks much sexier than ethereal Hone Sudan - maybe re-make my merc if Insight's meditation benefit from his prayer level?

String of Ears vs. Verdungo's, hmm. I don't know the 8% Life Leech is decent, but so is the 160 life from Verdungo's plus FHR and some replenish. Tal's belt is actually a decent idea, is the DTM enough to let you WW out if you accidently hit a manaburn boss pack?

With BO it can actually be around 320 life?

IMO I'd go for the life leech. 320 life is a lot, but I guess this is pretty cliche but you have enough life as a barb, and this is PvM right? Plus 8 ll is a lot, combined with your (guessing around 6?) from your dual leech ring, the life leech will help more than a small chunk of life. But if you like the stats that verdungo's heaps on you, you could go for that. But you'll be leeching a lot less. You knew this already, though :)
