Method of checking ilvl (legit of course)

Is there any way (legit obviously) to check the ilvl of an item for purposes of crafting/rolling?

I was looking into the amulet rolling (other topic) and came across a nice little range of ilvl 55 where the odds aren't bad of Jeweler's/Whale/Amicae/Deflecting(deflecting's low level, but what you gonna do) falling or being rolled with PGems, and it just got me wondering.

    Cheers

    Online, no.

    SP, Atma.

Unless you yourself see the item drop, and know what monster dropped it, you are not gonna know while on Bnet (not legitimately I mean). Even shopping still has a range you don't know

Well, if you roll a charm indefinitely until it gets 45 or so life you'll have a ballpark... ^^

Edit for not reading the thread... I stand by my smartass remark though.

    In theory, yes

Copy your entired ram to your harddrive, find the memory used by the d2 client and the pointer to the item.
You can then read the item level without breaking the battle.net EULA.

Uh, I really don't recomend using this method, it would take ages
