merc on PvP summoner

is it realistic to keep a merc alive for at least a couple of duel games? assuming merc is geared for maximum survivability (i.e. stacked res, decent DR, 3k+ life, high def). if anyone has experience with this, their input would be great. thanks

mercs are severely nerfed in pvp. whenever i dueled mine always died. always

Your merc will always die in one hit even with 50% and 95% res from any good pvp character.

Yep, sorry, your merc is almost always the first to go. In certain duels (against fort bvb's and such) you can often keep your merc alive for as long as you avoid contact with the enemy...but the instant a whirl reaches you, you'll see your mercs dead corpse by your feet .
