    Merc for a Blizzard Sorc

Ok, I have a few questions about Mercs for blizzard sorcs.

First, what merc should I use? I know someone from act 2, but I've heard Might, Holy Freeze, and Defiance all recommended.

Second, is a merc bought at low level and trained up better than one who is bought at a high level? I've heard both ways. If it's true, what's the best way to train my merc up to higher levels?

    Thanks for the help.

Act 2 NM Defensive Holy Freeze merc.

Just hire either from Normal or NM, but never from Hell, depending on which merc you need. Level for level, stats are slightly better in Normal compared to NM compared to Hell, but is insignificant compared to the type of merc you need.

ok, I have considerably outleveled the NM mercs, so how do I train a holy freeze guy up?

The 'training thing' only relates to v 1.10 when mercs were set to a pre-determined level, usually far lower than your own clvl.

v 1.11 did away with that. Just hire the merc. No need to train.

Might is a good option, and is what I would personally recommend. With a good, strong merc who can survive because of dealing enough damage to leech back life, you can take on Cold-Immune packs, such as the Countess, or do solo Baal runs.

HF is also viewed by others to be superior, since it can help you survive better by slowing down packs, and shattering corpses that might otherwise be revived.

yes i was pondering the same question...but like if u think about the possibilities maybe a a5 merc = best??? because any a2 merc prolly wont help...defiance...y u dont get hit...holy freeze..y u already do that...might...meh i guess but that would be 4 his benifit only. so a a5 is a tank in some reguards and a a1 merc is so so i would think a sorc needs a tank...not another wimp...but i do see how a might merc would be benifical

    meh just my 1839283 cents

Might merc with a good weapon can be both beneficial to you, and him.

Insight, for example can be a high-damaging weapon to take out immunes, AND replenish your mana. Just an example of its usefulness.

Would "Infinity"'s Conviction be suitable for a Blizzard Sorc, or should I just try to create an "Insight"?

Cold Mastery does (pretty much) the same thing as conviction for cold sorcs, and CM+Insight is a heck of a lot cheaper.
