    Merc + eth items

    Quick quistion:

Merc can use eth forever, durability never wears out?

Cause I have that pike with 100-500 dmg +4 all skills and a lot of poison dmg.

ps. What is the story bout the eth armors with a cube recipe? And what armors I should search for?

your merc can wear eth items for ever

if you use the soketing quest on an eth armor it will give you an extra 50% def bonus. Use a high def eth armor (500+ def without eth bonus, so about 750 def). Shadow Plate and Seacred Armor have maybee a to high str req. Always prefer light armors, they have no speed loss

Eth items never wear out on a merc, so you should attempt to get eth versions of the items they will be using (not always easy).

The "deal" with the cube recipe is that is has an unintended, but very nice effect that re-applies the eth bonus of +50% defense to cubed armors. As a result, you can have armors with base (before adding runes for a rune word) of 1000, 1100, 1200, all the way up to 1350 for a perfect sacred armor.

    Imagine a 4000 defense Fortitude!!!

The downside is that the number of sockets is random, and you cannot reroll such an item to try again.

    So
    1. This doesn't work if you use larzuk to get max sockets?
    2. And does this work on single player too?

    1. Correct

    2. I assume so, never tried it.

Back when the latest batch of formulas were introduced in v1.10, there was bug that made eth unique armors lose their eth defense bonuses when they were upgraded. Imagine upgrading an eth HOZ and ending up with LESS defense! Around v1.11 blizz fixed this bug, but somehow ended up with this new one related to socketing eth armors with the cube formula. The eth-cubed armor bug could be fixed at any time, but I seriously doubt it's a priority for anybody.
