    Meleemancer + blood golem

The clay, iron and fire golems all get some use, but no one seems to bother with the blood golem. I am making a Necro with these in mind:
    (base stats with no +skills)

    Amp damage 5
    Confuse 5
    Decrep 1

    Bone Armour (spare)
    Bone Prison (spare)
    Corpse Explosion 5-6

    Golem Mastery 20
    Clay Golem 5
    *Main Golem* 20

Basically it comes down to Iron or Blood. I'm figuring Blood might give me all the life and life leech necessary to survive as a melee mancer but whats he like maxed? Is it true that if he dies I can die too? I don't want Fire, and Clay is only for paralysing tough creatures or act bosses.

Blood or Iron guys?? Any info is much appreciated

Good luck in Hell getting swarmed. Unless the Blood Golem knows how to jump, youre going to lose a lot of life very quickly. Also, it's damage in Hell is insignificant, so you will barely be leeching anything back.

Think of how easily you can destroy a Kleenex. BG is weaker than that.

His damage is low. Very low. It is this damage that is used to calculate his leech. At level 40 with level 40 Mastery and maxed synergies he'll be doing 158 - 427 damage. And to top it off he'll attack once every second. This is not a good Golem.

You can maintain an IG if you plan your Meleemancer very carefully. An IG can actually be an asset then. However the major drawback such a build has it that you can't reposition the Golem as easily as you probably would like.

Very likely you'll be at one life though, which means a quill rat can tinkle on you and you'll explode.
