    Melee?

Ok, so I finally decided to complain about this and ask everyone's opinion.

As I understand it, the word 'melee' refers to hand-to-hand or "up-close" fighting. What then, causes most of the pubby dueling bnetters to say that smite and ww isn't melee? I mean, do they just not know what melee is, or do they have the word melee confused with "too hard for me to handle"? Or am I missing something?

Post up your definition of "melee", too.

    pisses me off too.

But what pisses me off even MORE is that ive had people say that zeal was NOT melee.... Those noobs...

I was using zeal and at least 6 people today say i was a smiter yet my name was PvPZealot.... and i only have zeal maxed....

    I hate those scum...

So far the ww doods and smiters havent beat me so im happy ^_^

My take on "melee" is using an unranged weapon. That would be a "shield", "sword", "axe", "carp", "Barbara Striesand's left leg", "mace", etc.

Non-melee would be all else like bows, spells, throwing thingys, Linda Blair's projectile vomiting, and what not.

Melee=all attacks that aren't ranged or magic.

I count berserk as melee too, even though it deals magic damage.

If someone tries to hit you with streisands leg you haveta weapon switch to robert smith's hair (from '85) to block.

Dracoy: Actually, the thing is, your post reminded me of this. This quote actually:
If you say that you are pissed off by the pubby mistake of thinking ww and smite is not melee, why do you make this same mistake in that quote?

Thanks for the replies. At least I know I'm not alone in my definition of melee.

Not really, cause some people say melee is the skills you stand still for...like would you call charge melee? I wouldnt, but thats me. Smite though, should be...

Uninterruptible attacks are usually not used in ""Melee Duels"" because they win too hard. Back in 09 ""Melee Duels"" Whirl was strongest "unranged skill", then Smite, then everything else. Or ... no wait there was Jab and DC too. Well I dont know. Uninterruptible attack vs interruptible attack is a bit bm though. Thats probably why people are saying, "ZEAL ISNT MELE NOOB STFU!!!"

It's not as if you can be on the opposite side of the screen, lauch a WW like a missile, stay in place and have it hit someone. Makes you wonder why some rationalize it's not melee. :flip: If it can be compared to anything other than melee, it would be more like an assassins Blade Shield. And that certainly isn't a ranged attack.

Smite isn't melee? That's a stretch, there are people that still believe the earth is flat too! :surprise:

Well... think about it, don't you stand on one place while casting a spell or shooting an arrow?

If Uninterruptable attacks are not melee, then what about the Werewolfs Fury attack... it lauches a series of five hits, and you can't stop it once it starts...
    How lame...

The only reason people are arguing about "That's not melee!" is because they need some rule when they get bashed. They need some excuse so that they can blame someone else then themselves. Some kind of psychological defense I think.
