melee fire sorc miniguide

i see a lot of dual dream builds, but never a hoj/dual dragon build... seems to me that lvl 44 holy fire beats lvl 30 holy shock...

any reason for this?

7% Life Stolen Per Hit
-20% To Enemy Fire Resistance

2 dragon give a huge str boost, and hoj has ITD AND - fire res... there arent many monsters who could take a hit from you...

the only required skill would be 20 fire mastery, after that its all open... you wont have much fcr so a timered crowd control spell would make the best secondary attack, and youd have about 80 pts to put in it and synergies

fire oriented: 20 FM, 20 warmth, and 20 hydra, with 20orb and 1 CM as secondary, all extra pts in enchant
hydras would keep everything in hit recovery and you just have to walk around whacking stuff

cold build: bliz or orb with maxxed synergies, i in CM, you would have very damaging cold attacks to use when not hitting stuff

gear:
shako or 2/20/2 oe CoA
hoj wep (nice staff with + FM maybe, otherwise a zerker i think)
dragon shield
dragon armor (dusk or mp)
treks
spirit monarch if 1h wep
magefists
arach
very lacking in DR, 2ber the 2/20/2 for sure, or go with COA
maras/hilords
rfrost/bk


anything wrong with this? if it is liked ill rewrite it in guide format

I think the key thing that dual dream has going for it is the two damage types, the ability to use zeal and the less equipment spots taken. It does require more skill point investment for sure, but what else are you going to do with those points?

However this could work, but you would need to pump weapon speed through the roof. Also, Hydras for stunning??? Skip the Hydra, get enchant. If you are going to hit hard with fire, you might as well hit harder and be team friendly. Plus, you already cast hydra on every fourth hit...

That or skip the HOJ and use something with exploding arrows...

actually I don't think a level 44 holy fire does beat a lvl 30 holy shock.

before points from mastery, here's the damage. And of course the LM % is much better than the FM %.

ya i was really tires and missed the wep/shield thingy

possibly a HOJ pb as a wep for speed... if you wanted you could make a nice ES sorc out of this... 20 ES and 20 TK, 20 FM, 20 orb and 1 CM, or skip orb and go enchant

if these stats are accurate, the how can holy shock add 40k light dmg to a melee sorc attack??, even with maxxed mastery it isnt multiplied 20-30 times....

also maxxing block would be no problem because you already have 136 dex for the pb

i think the average damage would be close to the same per hit because of -fire res, and dragon gives a big str boost... the question is, does anyone think this biuld is viable?

also, does deadly/critical strike double only the physical dmg, or both physical and elemental?

here is a revised equip idea:

shako or 2/20/2 or CoA
hoj pb or zerker, depends on ias from gear
dragon shield (monarch vs trollnest?)
dragon armor (dusk or mp)
treks
some crafted 2fire/20 ias gloves... probably most ppl throw these away, could get cheap
arach
rfrost/bk
hilords

probably would need ias jewels in the helm, coa is winning so far because of DR

you wouold have 73 ias, a bit low, what are the ias bps for a sorc?
fhr can easily be brought to 86 with charms

can someone give me an idea of the damage output per hit with this?

to whever suggested a bow, that would mean getting rid of dragon shield as well, making the aura completely useless
