Max teleport vs Max mana regeneration for blind teleporting in HC

For farming Mephisto and Andy in HC...what do you all think?

Goal: to build up wealth fast and efficiently without dieing!

Max teleport
Pros:
mana burn not an issue when blind teleporting
Cons:
20 skill pts that could be put towards something else

Max mana regen
Pros:
In conjunction with a partial/full ES, you could recover upwards of 150-200 mana/sec
--> enough mana to teleport out of a mana burn pack within 3 frames (assuming a ~20 mana cost teleport)
--> less damage taken to health bulb (especially with integer DR and MDR), less chance initiating recovery animation (as damage will hopefully remain below the 1/12th of your life threshold), max block not necessary (though FHR and FCR still are, of course)
Cons:
at least 20 skill pts placed into TK and/or ES that could be put towards something else


Also how would max block vs max vita fit into this comparison as far as maximizing survivability?

For softcore I wouldn't touch ES at all. For a fist char I'd go full teleport, because as Socialism stated in his guide that will allow you to MF even without Insight, and make possible equip your merc with slow monster gear, very efficient against Mephisto. After you have some wealth you can then maske experiences with ES and other stuff...

It is entirely possible to blindtele safely even with only mediocre manaregen and single-point teleport (hard points of course), but that would be highly dependable on your gear and inventory setup and even then you could say it's very calculated gamble. I've run Meph and Baal with my blizzsorc even with only 37% FCR and 20+ manacost teleport on NM and there was only one time I had to use purple after teleing in a room with 10+ burning souls which drained around 4\10th of my total life in one salvo. Needles to say I do have high FHR, fast blockrate, maxed resists and by the time my sorc was lvl64 she had 700+ lifebulb thanks to items and lifecharms.

Of course I wouldn't really go and try anything like that on hell unless I would have atleast 105% FCR and very high lifebulb relatively speaking. If you plan to make a specialised character using Socialism's guide is highly recommended (aka max tele), but if you want more multifunctional you might want to reconsider your gear and your intended targets very carefully.

I've run the ~20 point Teleport build ladder after ladder and it's awesome. You end up with enough firepower to take out Andy & Mephisto pretty easily, so don't worry about the 'lost' 20 points.

Later one, after you've found some good items, you could certainly respec to a smaller ES/Teleport and even TK investment in favor of a stronger Frozen Orb, via Ice Bolt synergy.

With a "memory" staff you get a really nice Energy Shield, with an 'Insight' holding merc you can get away with a ~10 point Teleport and maybe a 16-17 TK, jamming the rest into Ice Bolt. Really make sure that you can Infinicast Teleport before skimping on it, though, as it's super important, as you should know.


Max mana just seems like a good way to die before getting to Andy/Mephisto. Also, to make up the lost life you're going to need a much higher ES to balance it out, making you even weaker to manaburners or really hard hits. I don't suggest it at all for this build's goals.

I have blue staff 3 ES\1 TK (10 ES with plus skills) on swith and dont bother to put any more points to light tree.
However, even lvl17 Insight is not enough fot unstoppable teleporting. You will need to spend like 40-50 points in energy. Shako would fix that mana problem, but I'm unsing full Tal's.
