Max Fire Mastery or Fire Bolt?

Which one is better for optimal damage? I'm making a meteorb for pvp and I was wondering which one was more beneficial for pvping. Maxing fire mastery or firebolt for Fireball and Meteor (mostly fireball since meteor is pretty bad in pvp for me).

if you have some synergies already maxed, i'd go with mastery.

actually, i'd go with mastery either way.

Heya,

Fire Mastery is a 1 point skill for the meteorb. Look at your initial boost with mastery, 30%. After that, each skill is only 7%. Whereas firebolt is 14% each skill point.

Put your points into fireball, firebolt and meteor if you want optimal damage from the fireball. The rest is into orb. 1 point in masteries. Or more depending on what else you go for and how high level you go.

If you want optimum damage for Fireball/Meteor then you need to max both.

Max Fire Bolt for PvP. Both Fire Bolt and Fire Ball are great PvP skills.

Optimizing Meteor damage requires a balance of both Fire Mastery and Fire Bolt, since one works on the base and one doesn't. I forgot the rule about optimizing Meteor, but there's a section on it in some faq. You could also use calculus... lol. Optimizing Meteor will also take away from Fire Bolt and Fire Ball.

I do max Fire Bolt for both PvM and PvP with Meteorb since the untimered Fire Ball alone is superior to Meteor alone in almost every case, especially with the 105 or 200 fcr bp.

OMG is correct that for getting optimal damage there's a certain "balance" depending on your +skills and the # of skillpoints you have to spend (I can't remember what it is either ).
