    Max Block

    Hi, I am making a new sorc CL/FO and am using some guide I saw off hear. Anyway it talks about enough dex for max block and how it depends on your shield etc etc. I have no clue what this means...... Can someone explain max block and how I go about doing it?

    Thanks

    Sure thing. Max block is based off of a formula that takes into account your Dex, character level, and block listed on the shield. So every time you level up, you need more dex to retain max block.

    The formula is this:

    [ (Desired Chance to Block * (Level * 2)) / Shield Block ] + 15 = Dex you need to attain max block at the level calculated

    [] = round up

    So at level 80,

    [ (75 * (80 * 2)) / 67 ] = 179.1 round up to 180

    180 + 15 = 195 DEX needed at level 80 for 75% chance to block with Ss.

    Whereas with Whistans with it's 85% chance to block:

    [(75 * (80 *2) / 85 = 142 rounded up

    142 + 15 = 157 Dex needed at clvl80 for 75% chance to block with Whistans.

    If this is your first time making a Max Block sorc, a good tip is to get at least +20-40 dex from an item or two so you don't have to spend so many points in dex. Put points in dex sparingly and only to keep max block.

    So I need to put a lot of pts into Dex it seems like.... Probably close to 160 with a really nice shield..... Thanks for the help. Another thing, should I put pts into dex early or wait until a bit later?

    You know the Character Info screen? (it's under "A" by default). There you find a little info about your defense. When you hover over the number, you'll see two things, the chance a critter can hit you, and the chance you block the attack of that critter. Just invest in Dex until you have 75% block.

    But remember, don't invest too much in Dex when you only have a crappy shield. Just take the numbers from M0nks guide (Meteorb) and stick too it.

    The CL/FO guide is m0nk's - the Meteorb is mine :)
