Max Block VS. Vita ?

I can't decide! its making me angry!
(the following stats apply to the items im using btw)

MAX BLOCK
Life - 374 Total (Before Battle Orders) 549 Total (After 5 BO)
Block Rate - 75%

VITA
Life - 861 Total (Before Battle Orders) 1265 Total (After 5 BO)
Block Rate - 10%

This will be for my pvp blizzard sorc btw.

Lemme get your opinions please.

374 life is hideously low, 549 life after Orders is crap; even for a max block Sorceress. Any decent attack will kill you in one hit. I don't recommend this route unless you are certain that you will face 90% melee duelers and even then, you have an average 25% chance to die in one hit. Versus elementals, you have absolutely no chance whatsoever with block.

I don't know what kind of gear you are using but WITHOUT life Cold Gcs, when we both use Orders, I get over 2500 life; doubling yours for all Vita. Unless your Blizzard is over 10k and you have a solid faster cast rate and 50+ resistances in Hell, you won't be able to compete against good pvp'ers in pubs with 1.2k life.

Please tell us your gear so we can help you out on how to get some more life into your Sorceress.

Even the no block route you get really low life. Without decent charms it's still possible to get around 1000 to 1100 life or so. And that's without any BO and with 75% block. With good charms you can get over 1400 to 1500 life without BO.

God, how the hell are you getting 1000 life and max block.

even at 3 pts in Vit every level. At level 80 you will only have roughly 660 Life. Granted thats not included equipement or charms but still......

I have maxblock, 1200 life and about 700-800 mana an most of my builds.
About 10 mana/life charms, Annihilus and mostly Tal's set since i practically only play Dual-tree builds and Archmages. 1200 life is indeed rather easy to get, even with max-block.

Sorry, forgot to post my gear, and i calculated a little incorrectly.
Oh yea, i do reach the 105% FCR breakpoint, i get 75 resists in hell, and its a little over 10k. Im working on getting cold gc's (I only have one, with no second mod) but i usually cant afford the ones with life :hanky:

Nightwing's Veil
Death's Fathom
Blizzard Ormus
Crafted Sorc Ammy +2 Skills / 20% FCR
Sanctuary Troll Nest
Arachnid Mesh
Magefists
10% FCR Ring
The other ring i switch off between raven, dwarf, and wisp, depending on the other dueler(s).
I was using some resist boots, but im thinking of using sandstorm treks for the life and FHR%.

okay, this is my life with the max block build.

I'd be finished at level ** (Im too impatient to get any further)
Thats 440 stat points to spend.
I would need to put in 78 into my strength, then my ammy would bring it up to 106 (you start with 10) for sanctuary.
Now I've got 362 to spend.
To get max block (I used a max block calculator for this) with my 60% block Sanctuary, id need 188 points into dexterity (before sanc's 20 dex)
Now i've got 174 left, which will go into vita, adding up to 348
348 + ** (my clvl) + 60 (starting life) + 20 (quest) + 22 (from my treks) = 538

For vita-
348 (from max block build) + 188x2 (from max block build) + ** + 60 + 20 +22 =914

538 life + max block VS. 914 life (all before battle orders)

Wow 1200 life w/ max block? Cool!
I generally found max block not needed on sorcs in pks, but it's REALLY good for pit runs and dodging meph's cold ball.

How will you get 75 resists in hell with that gear? I'm assuming Anya, perfect items...that'll land you 40 Fire, 40 Lightning, 0 Cold, and 70 Poison. How did you make up the rest?

You go over the the 105% FCR Breakpoint by 20%, so this means you could drop one of your items...I'm guessing you'd prefer the ring. That means you have room for a BK ring, which is 44 life right there.

I'm a big fan of Shako over Nightwing's...8K+ Damage is enough to kill most people in 1 or 2 hits, and the +130ish life from shako is a big help, as is the DR. However, if you do use Nightwing's, make sure to factor in the +Dexterity on it.

Annihulus is a HUGE help, giving you up to 60 points in vitality, 120 life right there.

Go cowing for some life charms. They are pretty common, and you can stock up on a lot of jewels and merc exp while you're at it.

And I advocate max blocking all the way, although I prefer Stormshield. If you have no block AND no DR, a competant melee char, such as a Barb with Enigma/Insane RW or a Chargeadin, will demolish you, even with you teleporting for your life. With block, though, you could just stand there and blizz over yourself, and they would only have a 1/4 chance of killing you.

My sanctuary gives 70, fathom gives a little resist to lightning and fire i believe, my amulet gives some resists, anya quest x 3, and i have like 3x 5 all resist charms. oh yea and 10 resis anni, which i forgot to factor in  after that there must be something im missing, but i get 70+ resists in hell.

how are you getting 120 life from an anni?

I get over the 105% breakpoint by 5%.... not 20%...

I find the damage very helpful on nightwing's, specially when dueling good barbs with high resists. I also have an um'ed stormshield for the damage reduce.

ok, here is the final stats, in the previous calculations i forgot to account for some things.
MAX BLOCK BUILD
Life - (246 x 2) + 60 + 55 + 87 + 40 = 734
VITA
Life - (405 x 2) + 60 + 55 + 87 + 40 = 1052

(THIS IS BEFORE BATTLE ORDERS)
I'm starting to lean towards the max block build... see'ing as after final calculations its only under the vita build by about 300 health.

1 Vit. = 2 Life
10 Vit. = 2 Levels worth = 20 Life = 20 Life small charm
= waste

Why would you waste 2 levels worth of stat points into vit if your going to get a +Life equal to a moderatly common small charm? I dunno.
But Most importantly, block helps you where life cant... you cant run out of block... It helps you dodge % of melee and ranged attacks... which is a big + compared to life which you can loose quickly.
Even if you pump Vit. you wont get high life. I say max block, then pump vit LAST.

You're right, i do see the way sorcs dont get that good of a bonus from vitality, but i have decided to go with the max block build. So, although sorcs dont get much out of vitality, theres not a better place to put points after ive achieved max block... unless energy... but im pretty sure i wont need to.
