Mav's Strafe Dmg

Hey all... I am prob gonna make an amazon, and use Mavina's set for it. I have all but the diadem atm.

I wanted to know what kind of damage can be done with it? assume I will use WarTrav boots. but not sure on Ammy's/rings/ charms/sockets..

at lvl 80 we have roughly 435 stat points or so to spend. Lets say I put enough to cover my gear (100+) then enough to have 100 Vitality and then the rest into Dex so 250 or so dex

what kind of damage am I looking at? and what would a Might merc or Fanat Pally help out dmg wise?

also what IAS is needed to hit a regular strafe bp? 8/3 or something?

sorry I have only really played LF zons and am kind-a new to Bows...

EDIT: Ok, I checked the strafe ias wsm guide... looks like w/ a 10wsm bow (GMB) i need 80 IAS to hit the 9/3 bp. the bow gets 40. if I shael it that is 60, +30 for the diadem that would give me 90... i guess i could put a jewel in the helm for more ias? is that worth it?

M'av set gives you +30 str bonus. Another +10 from war travs, so if you are not using any torch or anni you need only 82 points in strength (armor requires 122 str). Also I would recommend going max dexterity route. That's because M'av set gives you safety:smiley: Even with base vita you could end up having around 450-500 life and believe me it's enough even for bowazon beginner.

Fastest bp you could achieve is 9/2 with 120% IAS, but I don't know if that's necessary due to recently discovered strafe bug. However going the oldschool way you would put 15% IAS jewels into both armor and diadem for 70%(set itself)+30%=100% IAS. Remaining 20% you can get by either socketing your bow with shael or using cat's eye / highlord. In my opinion shael in bow is the right choice because it allows you to wear atma scarab ammy. Amplify damage is a must for strafezon.

With this setup, maxed strafe and dexterity around 500 you'll be looking at 400 - 1600 strafe damage (this is however including magic damage from bow :evil:) so in reality it's lower.

The point here is quadrupling your damage via critical/deadly strike and amplify damage so might or fana aura will help for sure.

As for items you should wear. Raven frost is a must and second ring must provide you life leech. You could fill you inventory with expensive dmg/ar/life charms but it's not so great choice with this build. I recommend you getting 8 cheap bow skillers, few small cold dmg charms and maxing the best attack for M'av set which is Freezing Arrow. Believe me playing this char is pure fun:thumbsup:

yes I do plan on wearing Atmas... so no Highlord or Cat...

what is the point of going 120 IAS again if there is the 9/2 bug? wouldn't 90 suffice? leaving me to add dmg via a jewel (min/max or %ed).

would it not be a good idea to put a Nef in the bow for Knockback? not worth it?

yeah Mav's set adds Magic+cold dmg which is cool.

i have a few max/ar charms and will try to acquire more as I go. I have a good Ravens, and a dual leach ring actually. (ormus gave me one a little while ago)

really so nothing into VITA? wow... Ok.. good thing I dind't put any there yet.

though until I hit 70 i could be in for a few deaths especially vs act bosses or ranged enemies. I will be using witchwild until then most likely or lycanders

I could probably get a cheap torch but is it NOT recommended to use a torch because of the CtC Firestorm and strafing will make it go off all the time?

I love the idea of it, but does it disconnect you?

To be honest I don't really know what to advice you about IAS breakpoints. From what I understood it's pointless to go x/2 strafe speed because it actually doesn't exist eventhough it appears that you shoot faster. You should get some more information about it before making your decision:wink3:

To achieve 9/3 strafe bp you need 20% IAS so it's either shael in bow or 2x15% jewels (assuming that you're using atmas). So you have 2 options:
- 9/3 bp (2x15%) + knockback
- 9/3 bp (shael) + 2 open sockets for further upgrades

Personally I use strafe only as a backup skill so I don't need knockback but if it suits your playing style than why not:thumbsup:

Amazon with base vitality is called "Glass Cannon". For me it's the most entertaining approach, because you must use a good strategy all the time. Using valkyrie, decoy, merc to position your enemies, changing angles of attack to get the best of it and stay alive is really entertaining:jig:
So if you never tried that before you definitely should. Especially that M'av's set gives you great resists, so even if you make a mistake you won't die from one attack.

Torch is really annoying while playing with other players because it disconnects you all the time. Only when playing alone it's all ok. I decided to use it because my main skill is FA but still I must limit my attacks. So maybe you shouldn't use it.

On early levels try to get effect like knockback + slow enemies. For example Cleglaw's Pincers + Riphook. It's my favourite combo and even when I switched to full M'av's I missed this excellent crowd control.

I find knockback to be worth it's weight in gold so I Nef'd my bow long ago. It's by no means needed but it just seems to help me far more than any Shael, Ohm, or Lo. My Mavina runs 10/3 because I personally didn't really care for 9 frame mana burning freezing arrows. It allows me to focus more on helping out my strafe damage and 10 frame freezing arrows are perfectly acceptable.

Yes I like Knockback as well. my bow at low lvls had a Nef in it and it helped more than I realized once I upgraded... So with people suggesting FA as a main skill rather than "utility" I should change my build no?

20 FA
20 Cold Arrow
20 Strafe
20 Valkyrie

rest in prereqs?

using a Might merc will increase my damage and will probably have 1/2 my inventory with Max/AR charms (extra 3rd mod probably not)

With Atma's Scarab I will have a good chance to AMP mobs

I want to make sure my chance to do Double dmg is high as well as a high AR (the 400 Dex will help but might still be low for Hell)

is it worth it to max Cold arrow as a synergy?
