    I had always wanted to use Riphook on one of my char, and so Yukine was born.

    I began planing Yukine by comparing Riphook to WWS, and both upgraded they seemed to deal about the same damage (before you factor ds and amp).
    After reading about NF's strafer I deceided to use Riphook with Blackhorn's Face.

    Yukine started by using the Artic set, then at level 18 she got a bow full of perfect gems, and a gothic plate with +60 max damage. At the end of normal I had equiped most of my equipment.
    When I hit 41 and Blackhorn's came on, I really noticed the effect of Slows target by, one strafe and enemies start to crawl towards you, before beeing knocked away from the knockback. When merc hit 50, he could equip his sword and Act Bosses never hit me again :jig:
    Merc was also very nice against undead (especially the tombs in act 2) thanks to sanctuary aura and slain monsters rest in peace.
    When I got to Hell, I noticed my damage wasn't really that much, but with the slow and decrepify I was still very safe.

    Then came act 4, plains of despair, with their burning souls. :hang: At this point I had about -10 lightning res. I deceided to make the Lionheart and run the Pit for some levels (the boots dropped of a boss pack on my way to the pits on one of my runs). So my beloved gothic plate got retired after about 60 levels of use (along with Cow Kings Boots since level 13).
    So with new armor and boots, and some more resist charms, I hit 75 lightning resist with 20 absorb. No burning souls in plains this time, but I could now tank lightning enhanced monsters (not really tank, I could ignore the bolts, as they did no damage to me), but at the cost of greatly reduced damage. I did 117-617 with my gothic plate, and went to 123-399 with the lionheart.

    Ancients:
    I ran up to the altar, activated it, ran back fired a strafe, and saw my merc was down. Each Ancient got hit by my strafe so they were slowed down. Except Korlic he was extra fast (and had might aura), I actually went out of stamina while running and shoting him. But he went down to open wounds. As did Madawc. Talic was the last to go. He tok a LONG time (and i ran out of arrows against him), but eventually he died, as the others, to the open wounds on Riphook.

    The Throne room spawned with Burning Souls, Oblivion Knights and Hell witches none of which posed any threat to Yukine. Achmel the Cursed was the worst of the waves, as his poision damaged me more than a (super) healing potion healed (this was with the extra res from antidote potion), but he died as well after many town visits. Bartuc and co killed my merc, but died easily to my strafe. Ventar and Listar got slowed and decrepified and just died. Same with baal.


    Plans for the future:
    UPGRADING THE RIPHOOK. :D
    Seriously, my damage at the end of hell was horrible, all i did was to slow and apply open wounds.
    But after some upgrading of her gear, and perhaps a change of merc (I actually do have a reapers, so I don't know why I didn't change to a might merc earlier :crazyeyes:) she will most likely run the pits or wsk or some other level 85 area.

    Awesome character! :D Style points all around. How sturdy was the mercenary? Was all the slow enough to generally keep him alive?

    In any case, good luck with the runs. Fun characters deserve better drops, do they not? :wink:

    The merc was actually quite sturdy, he died very few times. More damage/leech would probably been nice on him, but he managed well. Only times he needed potions was against extra fast packs, as those were not slowed enough before his decrepify proced, or when I let him run into packs without strafing first :D

    And I'm already quite happy with her drops, as both the HoZ and Tal Rasha's Amulet were grailers.

    Cool character and I liked your writeup. I would not have done the character until I had the ability to upgrade the bow, so big props for that! With 50% slow and KB and decrepify from the merc the enemies must have been pushed clear off the screen a lot. Did you find that annoying?

    This reminds me of my first Mat, a Magic Arrow zon usuing a Riphook. I re-ran LK and got lucky with a Pul popping fairly quickly (this was in 1.12). Such a good little bow is Riphook. And end game viable when upped. Puls aren't that hard to find in 1.13, so I hope you get lucky soon.

    Anyway, cool character, and it's always fun to read what gear people get by with when they don't have everything. Good luck with the Pit running (best place for a Strafer).

    A bit annoying at times, but necessary to survive :crazyeyes:
    The knockback from the merc's sanctuarty aura was a problem at times, when he rushed forward into an undead group and ended up knocking monsters towards me.
    But knockback is very nice in small places, were monsters end up constantly knocked into a wall.

    But even more annoying was that I hit the (nonexistant) 2-frame strafe, so against extra fast packs when I wanted to fire a strafe then run, I saw that she stood still while displaying her running animation before actually moving. (Not that not hitting the 2-frame strafe would have made it any different really)
    (And I just realised, I'm missing 5 ias for 8 frame normal attack :whistling:, not that it would have helped any)
