(I've always like the SPF Mat/Pat/Guardian threads. They seem to have fallen out of favor recently but I'm going to post mine anyway)

Introducing Matriarch Salome the untwinked BlizzSorc.

Inspired by the MFO I decided to create a dedicated MF runner, unfortunately she wasn't quite ready in time to participate in this MFO (next time for sure). Not having seriously done runs before (I have tended to get bored after the first half dozen or so runs) it is all a bit of a novelty.

I haven't played soft core in years, nice this thing of being able to die and then just keep going ... I've also never played a BlizzSorc before ... some things have been seriously lacking from my D2 experience.

Untwinked, because that's the way I like to play, plus I like the idea of seeing how far one character can get towards the grail.
1.14d, RWM and GoMule.

But the running comes after, first was getting to Matriarch.

I decided to go the journey without using respecs, saving them for fine-tuning Salome for running.

Normal was mostly done with a bow and Static Charge. Glacial Spike and Blizzard more and more used as the mana became available. Our first Deeds was to Diablo at level 25 - I mistimed the teleport on top of him and ended up landing in his lightning hose. Luckily it was SC and life went on. Normal finished at level 31. We then did Normal Baal runs to level 52.

Nightmare was easy, defeating Baal at level 64 and then running him to level 75.

Hell has a lot more cold immunes. We skipped most of them, although Static and the merc could take care of them if they needed to be killed. We also had a 2/20 orb with +3 meteor/+2 firewall on switch, which helped. I was keen to do some Countess runs to get a few runes, but with her and her minions always being CI that was rather painful and the merc was still wielding a Partizan Insight, so took his time killing things. After a few runs and no decent runes Salome moved on.

When we reached Act 2 we did 100 AT runs to get to level 85 and see what dropped. A Shako early on was a great boost! The RoF had a nice super chest map, so after defeating Diablo we took the time to do 100 runs to see what might drop, without any luck. Then, it was back to AT to do a few runs to reach level 86.

Salome's second Deeds was to Frozenstein, just too many cold immunes in the Frozen River! And then it was on to Baal, defeating him at level 86. An extra Baal run ticked Salome over to level 87.

p1 all the way and not worrying about MF meant we had pretty ordinary gear (the merc was still using that Insight partizan), but gear doesn't really seem all that important for Blizzard.

Okay, time for some running. I really had no idea how to go about this but the SPF Hall of Records gave me some good ideas for getting started. Pindle seemed like the place to go first, so I downloaded Silopsen's run counter, loaded Salome up with MF (377%) and went for it. 200 runs later we had Skulder's Ire and Dracul's Grasp. I've never seen Dracul's before, so that seemed like a good start. Our average time for p1 Pindle was just under 30 seconds. Lots of room for improvement but I felt it was a fair start.

Another 200 Pindle runs and no new elite S/Us but the average time dropped to just over 28 secs. Improvement is always good.

When Pindle was CI, it was really slowing us down as Salome had to wait for the merc to kill with his partizan. Bases and runes seemed to be the most likely way to get some big improvements in gear for both the merc and Salome, and so it was off to LK for a while. I found out that I really hate spending time re-rolling maps, however, eventually we found what seemed to be a pretty decent one. 117 p8 runs later we accidentally clicked on Normal difficulty and the map was no more. Our average run time was 25.87 seconds and the best rune we had found was a Lum.

I've lost a few good maps this way. Seems particularly to happen when running LK. Definitely encourages me to run Pindle, where maps don't matter ... and discourages me from running LK (although I'd really like to improve my rune wealth).

Disillusioned with LK, I went back to Pindle for a while, 162 runs at an average of 25.5 seconds before the run counter crashed (it seems to do this a bit).

Then I tried rerolling AT and LK maps again, getting a decent AT one first. MF down to 246 for AT (more resists needed). All the bosses were crowded near the entrance, so the time was fast at 1:10, however it was only ever 4 packs. Wizardspike the only drop of note.

Back to Pindle for 201 runs at 26.728 seconds. Drops: Bloodraven's Charge, Sandstorm Trek and Halabard's Reign. MF: 247.
Another 201 runs gave Taeback's Glory. Avg Time: 26.58
97 runs @ 24.820 : Widowmaker, Warshrike.
202 runs @ 23.949 : Steel Carapace.
222 runs @ 23.690 : Dracul's, Deathbit. MF up to 316.
234 runs @ 23.634 : Both BK swords.

Enough of Pindle for a bit. I rerolled AT and LK, once again getting an acceptable AT map first.
50 runs @ 2:34 : Stormspire, Ormus Robes(Inferno), Bloodraven Charge, Mal.
50 runs @ 2:25 : Arachnid Mesh, Griswold Valor. (Awesome!)

Back to Pindle, MF up to 320%.
215 runs @ 23.627 : Windforce, Marrowwalk, Cranebeak, Doombringer, IK Soul Cage, Heaven's Light, Kira's, Griswold's Valor. (Great session!)

Back to AT:
100 runs @ 2:11 : Thunderstroke, Lacerator, Jah. (That is my first ever Jah! Two Zod's but never a Jah. Halfway to my first Enigma!)

And Pindle again:
200 runs @ 22.701 : Giant Skull

Salome has progressed to level 91, but p1 progress has slowed down a lot now. I'm not sure her gear is quite up to higher players settings yet though, maybe I'll give p3 a go?

Good job! I have it really difficult to get my single elemental sorcs to get Mat'ed. Don't even think I've ever made a twinked single elemental sorc Mat either xD :D

Hope to see you and her participate in the next MFO :) I would recommend you to go through the SPF Hall of Records for inspiration on optimising your runs. It helped me improve mine.
Yes, I've been making a lot of use of the Hall of Records, the gear set-ups, target times and run tips have been invaluable. For now I still pick up plenty of rares and other bits and pieces, as well as IDing and selling stuff as I go, so I'm not expecting to reach the lofty times of the fastest but it is nice to see those extreme times and my steady progress towards them.
