    Martha Stewart found guilty!

Found guilty on all 4 counts. Just saw it on Fox News and is still breaking news on CNN's website.

This is nothing. When Oprah goes to jail, then I'll be impressed.

well, when the defense is "she's too smart to do something this stupid", i guess you can't be too surprised at a guilty verdict...

So, who wants to bet that she weasles her way out of prison time?

And Sats, you realise that I will now and forever associate Martha Stewart and that avatar. Evil cow-bag :D

EDIT: I put money on a 7-figure fine and community service personally.

Guilty of all 4 counts. She is now a convicted felon and just about everyone in the country and world-wide will know it in a matter of hours.

The question now is how much time will she actually get. She faces a mx of 5 years per conviction but I wonder what she will actually get. I'm already impressed a celebrity has actually been found guilty and not gotten over. I'm even more impressed it's a felony conviction and I'll be super impressed if she serves any significant amount of prison time.

I still don't buy that she's guilty, though. What other public figure has been hassled by the courts for publicly defending his or her innocence?

I'm also impressed that a celebrity was found guilty of a felony. I think she'll spend a couple years in a very cushy federal daycamp somewhere after paying a huge fine.

Seems I read somewhere when this whole thing was just starting to brew up that if she had taken the hit, she would have lost somewhere around $500k. Not a significant amount when you are worth $100+ mil. Now, she has lost over half her personal fortune and will soon (possibly) lose her personal freedom. Amazing how ultimatly greed corrupts.

The good news is this, she won't get out of a prison term. She HAS to serve a minimum of 16 months to a max of 16 years.

I am assuming she's guilty. If she's not, I'm sure the appeals process will turn something out.

Oh, Man, this just restores my faith in humanity.

I was sure that she'd get a pass on her crimes because:

    1) She's Martha

    2) Everyone does it

    3) Most jurors are too stupid to know the difference between celebrity and innocence.

I am happy to say that my opinion of the "average American" has been proven wrong.

This conviction goes to show several things:

    1) The average American juror can understand complex financial crimes

    2) Money doesn't buy everything

    3) Ken Lay better cut a deal or watch his ***.

I can't wait for Kenny-boy to go to jail for multiple consecutive life terms.

    Ahhhh.....life is good.

To all those who don't understand......it ain't the crime that get's you, it's the cover-up.

Just ask Nixon, Liddy, Clinton (female), Clinton (male) about the cover-up.

    G. Gordon Liddy is the only one I respect.....sure, he was a political criminal, but he told the investigators to kiss his ***, did his time, and NEVER rolled on his boss.

    Plus, there's that Liddy/candle thing......

K-mart needs to pull their commercials in light of this decision. "Wake up with Martha!"

There were 8 women on the jury. I bet that screwed her over. If I were a woman, I'd hate Martha Stewart. I think she probably did it, but I'm not sure. I just wonder why there was so much focus on her, when we have all the Enron, WorldCom, and Tyco people doing really shady stuff too. I don't know a single one of their names or just what happened to them, but we've all heard about Martha Stewart. It just doesn't sound quite fair to me.

I figure she won't get much jail time at all. I mean, it's the first time she's ever gotten in trouble for anything, I really don't anticipate her getting the book thrown at her. My only question is, why does the sentencing take so long? July? Three whole months to decide on sentencing? What's up with that?

Really you guys... Maybe Martha did something wrong, but have you seen the way she's being ridiculed and made fun of? Go watch Jay Leno... that's awful.

She's a celebrity... she broke the law. It's expected and IMO she had it coming.
