Making money from Telepathy?

Well the story goes...

I was lying in bed last night and I was thinking about telepathy/mind reading, and how you could make big money from it. I thought of things like little bets with people about what card they're holding etc, but was really thinking about making lots of money.

All I could come up with was playing big stakes Poker games. You know, like the World Championships where they play for $1m.

So the question is : How would/could you make money by using telepathy?

In a pokertournament you'd be better off with empathy i think, or, if you are the right extravert psychological type, your better off with intuition.

Assuming ofcourse, wich i do, that telepathy does not exist.

 

Read the minds of CEO's of big companies so you'll know what stocks to buy.

Read the minds of Bank People and Casino Bosses so you can mentally download lock combinations and stuff.

Read the minds of old people who have forgotten where they buried their gold.

Offer to help anyone find something they misplaced, for a fee, by reading their minds so you can know what they've forgotten.

All sorts of stuff.

Poker is the easiest, and probably best way to do it. You don't need to look far for big stakes poker tournaments (or cash games for that matter) and telepathy would put you in a dominating position to win tournaments. You could also use it in other forms of gambling, such as figuring out what the dealer's hole card is in blackjack and playing accordingly.

Aside from that, you can use your intimate knowledge of a person's psyche to manipulate that person. This could be manipulating your boss into giving you promotions/raises, manipulating a politician to giving you government grants/funding, etc. If you think about the kinds of people that you could conceivably control (not through domination of will, just through knowing exactly how they will respond to certain things), that would give you an idea of all you could do.

 

Become some sort of super spy.

 

This is kind of where this line of thought came from. We were talking earlier in the night about knowing before you go up to a girl and start talking to them, what they would want to talk about. Would be so much easier and far less embarassing wouldn't it?

Not a bab idea either... you could wander round Afghanistan and try and find Bin Laden for the bounty.

I'd go on Jeopardy! and thrash the records of Ken Jennings (I'd just read Alex Trebek's mind as he scanned for the questions to the answers)...now, if only I had 3 months to kill. Decisions, decisions.

 

You should watch a couple of Derren Brown videos he does a lot of stuff on mind reading and psychics, I know i wouldn't wan't to play poker with him theres a couple of clips available here.

 

I think Telekinesis could be more fun, with all the strangling people and moving things. Powerful Telekinesis, not that weak crappy form you see in movies where the user has to sit there staring at you to concentrate and build up power.

Better yet Psonics (both supercharged telepathy and telekinesis) would be better, mess with their minds and throw them around the room for effect.

 

I don't think i wanna read people's minds. People think dirty and icky things most of the time.

It would probabily be easiest just to let the govt know and become a spy. You'd probably make a 6 digit salary and the work would probably be not that difficult.

sry ppl...but everything on the internet isnt true...like these videos. these videos r a load of bull. anything can be acted...not being able to move, falling asleep, not pretending not to notice a wallet (which isnt true at all, if i was in that wallet video id have takin it and run lol) but yea. so sry but its not true. btw...its easy to pickpocket ppl, so derren isnt doing anything special there either. also u can tell a crowd of ppl to put thier hand up, not to mention that no1 could have heard him snap when he said now. the last thing...as for the letter in the envelope gig, he probably looked at the picture before putting it in the letter.
