Making a new necromancer

Hello I have just started making my new necromancer and I'm in a bit of a fuss, I do not know what to do with him. What skills would you recommend him learning/adapting?. What is the best necro to make? please respond here or email me ([email protected]).
thank you

Most start with a summoner build...the basics are:max skeletons and skeleton mastery...I like mages so i maxxed them as well...for curses 1 point into all on the right side...and 1 into dim vision(others put 1 into all curses...i dont) Also...revives also get 1 point.

For your golem...gumby(clay) is the best overall golem...and only needs 1 point to be effective...and add 1 point into golem mastery and summon resist...rest of your points can go into corpse explosion.

Wubba? Why corpse explosion? I would just put one in that and let item skill bonuses improve the radius. Once it's up to a radius of 6 it seems good enough to me. I agree on the curses though, although if he decides to go poison, he'll want lower resist.

20/20 raise skeleton/mastery and +1 summon resists is good enough to take you to Hell by itself and you still have plenty of points to play with. It's an awesome build, but skellies are pretty worthless in high level PvP.

If you've played through the game with other classes, you'll feel like you're taking a much needed vacation. The most stressful aspect of it is making sure you don't miss any good items when your skeletons run off in all directions and kill stuff offscreen. It's like having an XP bonus because your skeletons will find everything a normal character wouldn't even know was there and kill it. As you start facing tougher opponents Amp Damage will reduce them to canon fodder in a hurry and decrepify will greatly increase the survivability of your skeletons against the toughest opponents.. It truly is stunning just how few points you need for them to take you all the way through Act I.

Where to go from there is up to you. I'm working on a build like this with maxed poison skills (it only takes 60) running under the theory that I can make up for lost skelimages with my own poison Nova and have a pretty strong PvP option for fun.

Corpse explosion works with 1 point +skills. Corpse explosion is even better with 20 points +skills --- that's why I max it, for a pure Skelemancer (Mastery, Warriors, Mages, Corpse Explosion --- that's only 80 points, after all).
My current guy is level 90, and he has several unused skillpoints already... skillpoints aren't that much of a problem with this kind of build.

Might merc. The extra damage is better for your skeletons than the extra defense. If you are having problems keeping your skeletons from dying in a particular battle (against Fantatic Uniques or Act bosses for example) you can switch to decrepify instead of amplify damage.

Also, maxing Amplify Damage is a little bit of overkill. Its very cheap on mana and can be quickly cast over a huge area with just a few clicks. 1 point in Amp is plenty.
