Making a Mid Lvl Dueler

Im on Ladder, so I am trying to make a mid lvl dueler...but I am not sure how I ought to set up his gear and skills

I think my aim is to be lv 45 dueler or so
I got my Hon Sundan not the one I wanted but it'll work for now I hope until i can get a better one, its 3x shael'd

Feel Free to update or make suggestions.

Gear I am thinking something like :
Hon Sundan
Vampire Gaze or maybe Guillaume's Face
Shaftstop
IK Belt
IK Boots or Goblin Toes?
IK Gloves
Angelic Ammy+ Ring
Raven Frost

Charms gunna have to be whatever i can find with finesteel I have some ED jewels I can throw into items.
Im kind of at a loss for how to place the skills i know that i need to skip run/walk speed skill cus slower he is the more ww's..
but can Imax spear mastery and ww or is there a point where i can stop pumping points into WW?

Any help would be awesome

why bump when you were still on the first page, sometimes it takes a couple days for everyone to make their way in here...

i'll tell smitty about this thread, he's got a lvl 49 conc barb, he should be able to help. i'd suggest either going to 49 (for oath) or staying at 37. you also really really need a one handed option unless you just want to cave to chargers and bowas (lots of both at around that level).

i have a 49 charger and he wears similar gear to what i'd recommend for you if you go to 49.
eth oath sc
hoz (you'll probably use sanctuary hyperion)
orphan's hat (probably go arreat there)
angelic ammy/ring
raven
gores
bloodfists (or more ias if you need)
tgods (or ik belt whichever)
duress/shaftstop/GA (there's a lot of options at this level and i'd have a couple on hand to swap out)

do not skip increased speed. you'll be chasing casters frequently.

hm true, I seen a reallly good barb wwer with a hon the other night was wrecking the place up even a few pl who were 65+ ( a 70 paladin and a frenzy barb at 78) that night so im willing to try it (he was on useast though doesn't play very often it seems i never see him online when im on ) but impressive my only concern was skills not so much gear atm, if your capped at 50% DR i dont think i'd have a whole lot to fear not at those levels mind you. Im working on my barb tonight so im alittl eager to get advice lol.

Its his skill placement im worried about, I dont think i'd do concentrate though i've had a few con barbs i dont like em at all, maybe berserk if im doing a non WW skill.
but its trying to figure out what i can max what I can't at 40-45 cause there isn't a lot of points to use.

I dont remember unfortunetly i mostly play uswest but maybe i have a screenshot, but he was abit higher then 37, maybe 41-42 or something I dunno, looked like he was wearing a gaze, then had arreats for when he bo'd my guess is some kind of magic helm with +BO/shout on it.

Nah, that wasnt me. I go 39, mainly for 20 lifers with 2nd mods.

For a Hone baba there usually are 2 points to go lvl wise. 37, the base lvl for the Eth Hone, and 39, which nets you Shaft (for melee) and high lifer charms (20's and such).

I use:

Guill's (ill socket it witha 30 ed when i get the chance)
Shaft (again, 30 ed when i get the chance)
Soon to make a Peace and Lion Heart
IK Gloves/Belt/Boots
Bloodfists/String/Dual High res Boots with fhr (mainly for trappers and such)
ar/70+mana ring (need to up grade it, its rather low ar)
Angelic Ammy/Ring (when i get a good 1 Baba ammy ill swap it out, along with another 100+ar/70+ mana ring)

Charms you want good ar, as much max dmg as you can get, and a good amount of frw for catching pesky casters and such. Ive thought about getting a 190+ Butchers and putting a nice ed/maxer into it and having a eld'd whistan for dealing with sheilded babas and bowas, but just havent gotten around to it yet.

I ran into a lvl 37 one the other night, he was wearing peace, i was usin my shaft, and we pretty much ended in a draw. With my DR and his sup. dmg, we practically canceled each other out. I personally like 39 better than 37, but thats my preference.

no I definitly agree, but question is how do I set up my skills like what needs to be maxxed what doesn't? Im more worried about messing that up then actually the gear and items but yeah I love my hone I just got today its eth 188%ED not exactly what i wanted but its almost 330 max damage already lol

I got some nice ED jewels but non are 30ED its msotly stuff like 24% ED +21 Poison resist which i got lastnight and a couple rare jewels which have str/dex and 21% ED or something.

Well, the skills that i did were:

Max Mastery
1 pt ww
Max Bo for lvl (lvl 16 base points)
1 pt into inc speed/stamina/res/iron skin
1 pt into all the prereqs

Now, the reason i put only 1 pt into ww was the ed you get from it isnt that much, and to keep the mana cost down as well. Plus, when i did research on it, that was the most common decision on what to do with ww.

Not to mention that Mastery gives you the critical strike.

Keep in mind that my guy is a concer, so my setup is probably going to be fairly different. That said, I use:

Head: Arreat's Face with and IAS jewel (I personally don't think it can be beat... 20% AR, Res, Skills, FHR, 40 stat points, and high def... it's just perfect in every way for pvp)

Body: Guardian Angel with an IAS jewel for BM elemental damage based high levels and Peace for others... though I am debating my choice in Peace. I'm pretty sure I'll be changing it before too long, but for now the Critical Strike skills aren't hurting anything.

Shield: XX Grim Shield of Deflecting with an IAS jewel and a Shael for most chars. A Hyperion Sanc when I use GA.

Weapon: Oath Eth Small C recent

Gloves/Boots/Belt: IK. By far the best combo for a barb at this level, imho. I'm sure Bloke may disagree, and if he does I'd trust his word over mine, simply because the concer is my first MLD, let alone dueling barb.

Amulet: Crafted FCR barb ammy that I had with big res, life, and mana. FCR really is irrelevant, it just had some nice stats.

Rings: 1x Raven at all times, then either a Dwarf or SoJ depending on if I need to sorb a bm fire character.

+3 Warcry throwing weapons on switch.

I hit all the major breakpoints with this setup, have huge res, and amazing AR. I have an Angelic ring and ammy in my stash, but I really don't need them. However, this guy is a Conc barb. If I were a WW barb I'd hit the fastest breakpoint without any IAS, so I'd probably socket my items with ED jewels... though, I'm not the expert on MLD, so I don't know if I'd have a better option.

Anyway, CDM asked me to reply, so there's my two cents.

This has all been extremely helpful this is my first midlvl dueler, I had abit of a brain fart about that hon dueler that i saw (turns out what i thought was weeks ago ws months ago according to the screenshot, it was from PVPforum designed for all walks of pker/pvp from Ultima Online all the up to EQ/d2 and some other games i never heard of other then runescape the forums are gone now i can't find a trace of them on google =/
but the screenshot was before 1.11 around when 1.10 so i guess gears changed quite abit.

Im working on my barb today so i'll let you guys know how I do.

One thing I like about this builds its teaching me how to be alot mroe concous about my stat allocatin before id just pump str dex up until i was comfortable like if i was make a pb frenzy barb i'd do like 100dex then wear a 20dex raven, to use azurewrath well the standard stat build for a new character with no available gear for twinking in my books was like 145 110 rest in vit kinda thing so like 290 or so. Which was fine if was a new character at the start of a new season or new account ect, when you didn't have any gear.

My question is though should I bother pumping dex at all because so far i have no dex requirenets on my gear. But I considered if I got a eth 200%+ ED Hone Sundan or something i'd try upping my 188ed one to see what a ghost spear would be like so I am not sure how much dex. ( I have no anni but i do have a crappy barb torch not sure on stats tho)

Im not sure, but why is peace so good or seemslike everyone here likes peace and what should I make Peace, Oath and Sancturary in?
I dont really regret skipping run/walk though I shouldn't have gotten berserk i picked by mistake out of habit >< though i've used it a few times on necros which seems to work ok but Sorcs/Necros give me the msot trouble not so much catching them but theres some really good LLD twinks and its hard to do much damage to them ( I haven't Socketed my gear yet or worked on charms much i have some AR charms and res charms but no lifers or max/ar) Theres no level limite on rune words?

Peace is useful on lld's and probably getting so highly recommended for a Sundance barb because of its wonderful +2 critical strike. As for the bases for all these runewords, Peace can be made in just about any armor, just make sure to make it in a light armor class as to not incur any fr/w penalty. If you're thinking of going to level 49, Oath can be made in either an ethereal highland blade or small crescent. If you can find one, a highland blade is nice for the extra range. A hyperion is a solid base to make Sanctuary in. The level limit on runewords is that of the highest rune that went into its making.

As for the increased speed (or lack thereof), I'd seriously reconsider if you're planning on doing any mld-ing, at least from my experience you're going to be doing a lot of chasing after opponents with a ww barb. Berserk is actually nice to have in some matchups, that point is not quite as wasted as you'd think.

Get max block if you use a shield (I highly recommend you use a shield), then don't worry about dex.

To add on to what Mebd said, Increased Speed is a must. Do not skip it if you want to have a chance vs good casters.

Currently at lv 41 I dont have problems catching anyone, though I use teleport on switch for the googly eyes effect followed by a wtf? But yeah I wish I did have it now, I was just worried about not have enough points to use for everything else.
when I picked up Berzerk and reasilzed I hit 41 without stam and r/w. Im wondering if I should just reroll my barb again cus I think if I start lvling up 2 more levels thats going to defeat the purpose of me trying to be a LLD. At lv 30, Highland Oath + Sanctuary would have been good enough? I forgot the forumal for figuring how much dex with items is required for blocking but can't be much at 30.

I dont think at this point its possible for me to get max block or use a shield due to being 2hander with my Sudan, which I love, I got laughed at today for using it and beat him 4-1. I got too much str though so maybe thats another reason to try rerolling its just hard to do it without help lol, its an all day affair getting through norm ;p

I haven't looked but is there a decient Spear/runeword i might try as a upgrade to hon if I go to lv 49? then again...Hone seems fine, its just getting arreats that'll suck. OR getting peace and stopping at lv 37 and having Lionheart/Peace just love having that DR hehe.
