Making a Fishyzon - what now?

First of all, hi all, I've been lurking for some time here but couldn't be bothered to post because, well, I didn't have anything to say :wink3:

So, I've finally started playing on Bnet after a long long time on single player. I'm not quite used to all the Bnet tricks and standards because well, I've only played for fun on SP, without any good builds, just put skill points in what seemed good at the time.

So I decided to make a Fishyzon. She's lvl 30 now in act V normal and I got Freezing Arrow and Lightning Fury the moment I could. But I have a few questions.

First of all - equipment. You are all talking about high-end equipment like griffon's, titans, and while I know what most of these things are I fear they are out of my grasp money-wise and level-wise. I've read the 'how to accumulate wealth on the ladder' and I'm saving up as many runes and gems as storage permits. I play the most with a good friend so the problem is that I haven't got very good equipment, I just use what we find. But now I find to have a lots of trouble with my mana - I only have 67 mana and leech doesn't help at all on my weapon. This means that I have to drink a lot of mana potions and going back to town every 5 minutes because that blue bar is empty again is plain annoying.

Next - skills. I have 11 skills points remaining. Should I gradually max out LF and FA each level or just throw them all into synergy skills now? And my attributes are [enough strength for equipment] - [enough dex for 75% block] [rest vitality] right? Sorry asking that much but I don't want to go the wrong way :wink3:

Any help is greatly appreciated!

PS: My Amazon is called Ayreonic by the way and I'm playing on European Softcore ladder.

Re: Making a Fishyzon - what now?

Welcome,

1. You don't need all the high end stuffs to make it work. Here are some cheap options:
Helm: Shako (~pul or less for a low one), Valk helm (+2 skill, pgems)
Armor: Peace armor (cheap runes), Vipermage (+1 skill, resist, pgems for lower resist one).
Ammy: +2 zon ammy (pgems)
Zon Torch: get a low one for ~20pgems
Titan: low one for pgems

As for the mana, give your merc a insight Polearm. Problem solved. You still need some mana potions if you spam FA/LF but not as frequent for sure.

2. I suggest to max LF first. With Titan, you will rip through normal/NM difficulties in no time.

definitly pick one or the other to level up first. if you try to do both, neither will be powerful enough and you'll hit a wall developement wise in nightmare. either would work, but i'll agree with chien and say you should get your fury/charged strike maxed then start on FA and its damage synergy.

do take the time to get all your passives. one each and a few into valk if you're going to get one.

Thanks for your replies, as soon as I can get on Diablo again I will make that Insight! (Didn't know you could get a temp ban from scrolling your skills... silly game)

So LF/CS it is.

Join the baal runs to level 45 and enter the NM. You can use Titan @ lvl42. You will be cruising until Hell mode.

Re: Making a Fishyzon - what now?

hey man. i just made a fishyzon 3 days ago. and ive been farming baals recently. ive mastered the runs without a merc (cuz im poor to gear my merc up and he dies in like 5 secs) but i still clear runs in like 15 min. as for the gear, really focus on your resists, your survivability is your number one priority. as for skills you wanna max CS/LF to level up faster, after that work on FA/CA (you really wont be using this till hell) i didnt use it till i started baal runs. Try to get someone to rush you to baals in normal/NM/hell and just keep joining baal games for XP. thats how i lvl a char up to 80 in a day =D.
as for the stats. just enough str for gear and enough dex for gear. in my opinion max block is not neccessary. i think i have around 70-80 str and i have exactly 109 dex, enough for titans and i have 72 block rate. just pump the rest into vit, at lvl 82 i have 1500+ hp.
btw what realm do you play in? if your NL East i can help ya out and get you started up.
let me kno if you have any more questions cuz all I've been doing for the past 3 days is just baal running on my fishyzon.

Hey, my zon is lvl 49 now and going steady through nightmare (read: incinerate everything on your path). I'm playing in Europe ladder though. Thanks for all your tips :)

I have a zon, like yours, lvl 31. I am saving my skill points, so that, as LF increases, I can use those extra points, point by point to add to Valk.

About Mana: I drink more mana pots than a sailor...anyway, I have two slots filled up with full or Super if I can find them, and my weapon is the best 'replenishes self' I can find. I do have a Titans, and a ThuderStroke, but I cannot use them yet. ( lvl 69 ). I got the TSs for 9 perfect gems! Save those gems. ( and a pair of WaterWalks, for 4 perfect jems ).

How to I have so many perfect Gems? I get a flawless, then run around Act 1 looking for gem shrines, finding chipped, and when I do find a gem shrine, I am absolutly carefull, that its the flawless that gets upgraded to perfect. ( i.e. dump all the chips back in your stash via a TP )

How to aquire runes? I have a lower level char to both mule runes, and create games without the Dark Tower/Contess quest, so when I go back with my lvl 31 zon, its a first kill. ( you'll know, because the weird smoke effects trail back to the chests! ). Also a good idea to build up Tir-Tal for an EDGE bow* for your merc, and combine TALs/THULs for AMN. I should look for a Peace Arnor now...

When you run out of MANA, which is very, very often, you want to switch back to bow, and use only bow shots. Mana leach on rings/bows is where this really pays off.

With passive skills, I always do 4:2:1 Crit/Penetrate/Peirce/ ( in fact, that is where they are right now! )

Another idea is to put two points into innersight, and F2 it, ( make it switchable iwth the F2 Key ), and when I get a good crowd, hit 3 in sucession with F1, Slow Missle, F2, Innersight, F3 LF. ( and weapon switch F4 for cold arrow, or with a high damage bow, like a 4 socket bow, filled with TALS, or ORTS, use multi-shot. )

Re: Making a Fishyzon - what now?

My advice: just max Charged Strike as soon as you can. Since you can only train it at lvl 18 it will be maxed at lvl 38 and from lvl 30 and onwards just stuff a point in LF each lvl. The runeword Insight helps a TON. No wait, two tons. If you got that much mana trouble like me, go make one NOW. Just use a cheap clean polearm, socket it with Larzuk's quest or a cube recipe and make that runeword. You will NEVER have mana troubles again, it's that great

I got natalya's soul for boots now and because of the resists I think I'll keep them for a while. Still looking for a better amulet/shield/bow though...
