MAJOR PROB! mY characters for D2 are MISSING!!!

I just installed the expansion set and now it is not showing any of my characters! I can't even see them on the convert page. Where the hell did my Lv. 30 Barbarian go!!! This is very odd as I see the character files in the save folder ,, why won't is show up to convert it??????? Will a patch for D2 Expansion fix this :scratch: .. or am I SCREWED!?!?!?

By upgrade it shouldn't remove anything even if you don't patch therefore the chance are the character files are still intact. Might want to check to make sure files are in the right program folders via window explorer.

Did you install on top or was it onto another drive?

I installed it on the same drive,, my charactor files appear in the right spot ,, what folder should they be in?

they are in the SAVE folder in the D2 folder.
Why are they not showing up to be converted to the D2 Expansion?

It happens when you have characters saved from classic then upgrade to expansion. The expansion's patch is 1.07 (I believe) and Classic left off at 1.10 (if you installed that). You'll need to upgrade your patch version, that will fix the problem ^^

A newer patch will recognize older patch characters, but an older patch will not recognize the 1.10 characters. Don't worry, your characters are safely hiding inside the old patch. Install 1.10 and they'll show up again.
