    Magic Find

    Hi

Whats the ideal MF to get the best drops. I heared somthing about the MF cures, saying that anything over 600 is bad. But 600 is ideal?

    Does anyone know

There is no bad MF, just having over 600 is going to slow down your killing speed.

300 MF is good because your killing speed will still be fast.

Ideal would be 1500 but thats not possible unless you really slow down killing speed.

i have 994 mf, and ive been geting ok drops... but every so often i can get good. ive tested 600, 400, and 994. it seems 600 is very good.

The curse goes somthing like this, somthing with the 1.10 patch. "anything between 600-799 is bad, but over that is good. but 600 would be ideal or somthing because its working best.

I would still need more testing to do

    The more MF the better...
But you have to know that MF has diminishing returns, it modifies your chances of finding magic, rare, set or uniques items as follows:
    100% MF gives you 100% Blue - 85% Yellow - 83% Green - 71% Gold
    200% MF gives you 200% Blue - 150% Yellow - 142% Green - 111% Gold
    300% MF gives you 300% Blue - 200% Yellow - 187% Green - 136% Gold
    400% MF gives you 400% Blue - 240% Yellow - 222% Green - 153% Gold
    500% MF gives you 500% Blue - 272% Yellow - 250% Green - 166% Gold
    600% MF gives you 600% Blue - 300% Yellow - 272% Green - 176% Gold
    700% MF gives you 700% Blue - 323% Yellow - 291% Green - 184% Gold
    800% MF gives you 800% Blue - 342% Yellow - 307% Green - 190% Gold
    900% MF gives you 900% Blue - 360% Yellow - 321% Green - 195% Gold
    1000% MF gives you 1000% Blue - 375% Yellow - 333% Green - 200% Gold

As you can see, if you're looking for Unique items (as most people do), at some point it becomes totally useless to add MF. Since you cannot add lots of MF without giving up some killing speed, you have to find the right balance between them for your own char and style of gameplay. Most people find that balance between 300 and 400%.

    Good luck ;-)

How on earth do you get 400 MF, let alone 1000?

    Re: Magic Find

Well, to give you an idea:

    Skullder's Ire 1-123 MF
    Enigma 1-99 MF
Tal Rasha's armor ** MF (+ 65 MF is set complete)
    Goldwrap 30 MF
    Chance Guards 25-40 MF
    War Traveler's 30-50 MF
    Stealskull 30-50 MF
    Oculus 50 MF
    Ali Baba 1-99 MF
    Nagelrings 15-30 MF
    Rare amulet 20-35 MF
    Gheeds 20-40 MF
Perfect Topaz socketed in armor, helm, shield + 24 MF
Ist socketed in weapon + 30 MF
    Small charm 4-7 MF
    ...

And if your merc gets the last hit, his MF is added to yours.

    Re: Magic Find

Are these numbers breakpoints like the frames charts? In other words, is 350% actually 350MF, or does it round down to the 300MF?

Hopefully that makes sense, if not I'll try to reword the question.

    Re: Magic Find

I don't think MF rounds at all, the exact number is what your MF is, the chart just goes up by 100% because going up by 50 or less would be way to big.

You can test this by using ATMA drop calculator and seeing that 20 MF changes the drop rates.

Indeed, those are not breakpoints. I used multiple of 100 only for clarity (and because I did not want to spend my whole day checking figures). Every point makes a difference.
