Re: Lvl 100
Re: my comment earlier about the difficulty of legitimately reaching 99 on ladder.
Someone said "there are sorcs, and sometimes 10 people play one character." I agree, but that's what it should take to reach 99 in a matter of months. Literally a squadron of people leveling the same character. Even then, sorceresses can teleport and all that, I know. But just because you run a sorceress doesn't mean you can roll Baal on /p8 hell. You need you some good items. We both know that there is at most a handful of legitimate level 99 characters (on battlenet ladder), and I'm very skeptical that there is even one, though I'll allow for the possibility.
Someone else said it above: how cool would it be to make 'enigma' type items in a cheat free environment? You'd have a real leg up on the competition, and it would be really fun. Breath of the Dying? How many of you have found a Zod rune? No one, I'd bet. Because they don't drop. They don't drop. I think the amount of legitimately obtained Zod runes on battlenet ladder in this game's history can probably be counted on one hand.
And that's the problem. When you're all psyched about the exceptional or elite unique you just found, that while not the best item is still very good, there are ten other people who are using their 'ebotd' and all that nonsense. What's even the point then?
As far as the actual level cap - it doesn't really matter. Whatever number they pick is fine. If there is a hard cap, I think that the experience should keep accumulating, so that there is always someone on top, rather than having several players tied at the same number. Though I think it would be neat if the cap was 666. After a certain level, you stop getting stat points and what not, but you keep leveling up. Maybe they could give you a different glow for every hundred levels (like a full set glow in the expansion), and if you somehow reach 666 your character gets horns like diablo, because clearly you've sold your soul to play so much.
