Love My Wolf

Well, I just quasi-finished my first pure-Fury wolf. This was my first SS Druid ever, and to be honest, I am both happy and impressed with the results. I was kind of skeptical of the wolf due to the fact that you just dont see them much, but this guy is great, both pvm and pvp. Anyway, enough of that. Heres my setup:
Jalal/Cerebus
Maras
Ebotdz
Fort
Fenix/SS
Dungo
C-Grip
Raven
Bloodfist
Gspurs
Yes, it is an expensive set up but oh well. I currently do 4-9k (Level 80), working on having max FHR (125), Max Block, Dr, then I would say about done and ready for real dueling. Thanks for all the help (you know who you are). Any thoughts/suggestions/whatever much appreciated.

get rid of the phoooenix, its not for you. impossible to get max block on and even if you did its horrible blocking. Also your lack of interupible(sp?) attack will screw up your fury.

*ATTENTION*

Phoenix sucks on shape shifters. Thank you.

Also, might I inquire as to why you're using Mara's instead of, say, Highlord's?

Just to reiterate:

Don't use phoenix on a fury wolf for pvp.

Also, you can loose the grip for another Raven, it's a nice boost to ar and the dex saves a nice little chunk for blocking. Also, swap the terriblydupedspurs for a pair of Goreriders. As 'Rashi mentioned about using a Highlords, you're going to want to load up on some deadly strike. Any chance to deal double damage with fury is well worth some of the other mods on those boots and rings, unless you're really needing some resists (which shouldn't be a problem with Jalal's and a Fort). Lastly, 86 fhr ought to be plenty. In most duels you can easily drop down a breakpoint from this and still benefit from wolves' phenomenal fhr breakpoints.

I know I've seen this before, but it really bothers me that people think it's okay to just say something without explaining it at all. Other than the fact that Phoenix does not seem to have useful PvP mods, *WHY* is it so ****ing important not to use Phoenix in PvP?

The atrocious block rate of a Phoenix means that unless you're packing a GFG rare Fanged Knife, it won't be worth investing all that extra dex, and even then, the block rate will be horridly slow. With a Stormshield, it will be simplicity itself to get max block and DR, not to mention stack in the two elements you need most, and a nice str boost that dovetails nicely with BotD for more damage (which might or might not come before the mod for Fort...gotta look into that for a titan). Personally, I would go so far as to say keep two around, one with your chosen socketing and one with Shael (unless you swear by shael-SS, in which case, only one). Hope that helps ^.^

Thanks, that does help, I just didn't see the need to go psycho ape over it as anyone who knows anything about block can figure that out themselves. I assume that's why the OP has SS like he said.

I was merely reiterating, as Jayson had already mentioned it's nigh impossible to get maximum blocking with Phoenix on a pvp wolf, and even worse the ctc firestorm will interrupt fury. Also the off-weapon ed will be a drop in the bucket with Fortitude and the pile you get from the fury skill itself. I wouldn't say I was going "psycho ape," I just merely like using the highlighting function. Using Phoenix on fury wolves is analogous to people thinking that poison prevents critical strike - I think my response was warranted - if it keeps one more fury wolf from not using a Phoenix it's worth a little highlighting.

No ones going physcho ape over anything. Lots of people mistakenly think phoenix is a great shield for a druid when its not.

Queen medb just had to repeat that cause most people have problems reading threads properly.

IE: i already explained why the shield sucks (with even more back up as to why from queen) and you still posted asking why the shield sucks a few posts later.

Phew! Lots of comments. First off, chill about the Fenix thing... I use SS (Fenix in PvM - I guess I should have clarified that :wink3: ). Prion guessed right, that is why I DID mention my use of SS... Anyway, as to regards to whoever asked why I dont use Highlord? Ias added is useless, 1 less to all skills, however the Deadly Strike is useful which I use (if need be) in melee vs melee. Lastly, why question Gspurs? I use Gores in melee vs melee, but Gspurs seem so nice when playing normal pub duel game- makes FHR breakpoint much easier but most importantly, my SPEED. Allows me to reach those pesky casters much easier.

aldurs gives more frw and life. you dont need 86 fhr against a caster.
people question gspurs cause its a duped item, which we frown upon here. Unless its duped Hr's in the trade forum ;p

Good chunk of all the items that ciruclate amongst D2 are duped... I should know I have lost uncountable amount of wealth through poofing hrs, sojs, forts, coas, ebotdzs, etc. You say you frown upon them? I see no difference. The Slippers my smiter uses sometimes makes the difference between me and another pure vita smiter who doesnt have them. Yet in the end, it doesnt matter either way because we both just lose to someone who Bms and taps. Does that make us better or worse than someone who Bms? Using duped items shoudnt matter... unless they poof. (Keep in mind- you never know if any of those high-ended items you use yourself are not duped and just perm- I have had my share of items that are usually never duped poofing on me).

Keep this from being a discussion on ethics. Thank you.
Thats fine with me as long as people dont question my gear simply because it is duped. You cant fret over something in these forums and then dislike it when someone replies to you. Oh well. Im finished ranting.

@ West Non-Ladder.

An ethereal Greater Poleaxe works just as decent as a ethereal Tombreaver by the way and also has +1 range over Tomb.
