Posting seeds is a no-no, but using the seed command to get back a good seed after a multi player game is generally accepted. You first need to locate your seed number for the map you like and record it. (You can find it in ATMA under the characters stats tab) Then when you are ready to restore it, you change your shortcut command line to include
-seed xxxxxxx after what is already there.

ex: "C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -seed 1234567

Then enter the game start your character and then save and exit and quit the game. Then remove the seed command from the command line and start up the game again. If you do not exit the game and remove the seed command and launch anew, you can get very bad results. (possible duplicates)

I am unsure of why hot muleing of gheeds would be a bad thing. (I've never done it, becuase the only gheeds I got was from trade) But, it seems to me that it would be like finding anything else in the game and muleing it. I don't believe the game will allow you too have two equiped at the same time. (even with atma) So if I found a second, I think I might mule it off to one of my other characters.

Hot muling is just running ATMA while your char is still in the game. This means that once you mule off the gheeds, when you return to the game you will still have the gheeds in your inventory. (effectively duping it) But, if you simply drop it on the ground and allow it vanish, you have eliminated the bad karma (and forum rules) of duplicating.

P.S. I might hold off on picking up second gheeds until a consensus is reached though. Alter Ego and comments would be welcome.

Would I get the short Andy run AND the short Mepha run when using the right seed with the command?

Does the seed apply for all places on certain difficulty?

The SPF, and other D2 forums, have historically frowned on hot muling. It's been around for as long as ATMA. It was primarily discussed in relation to MFing with a full inventory. With 1.10 the discussion was revived around Gheed's Charm.

For many of us, the procedure is just as cheesy or wrong as it was before 1.10. The SPF solution is simple. This usage of ATMA is essentially a Game Affecting Mod. According to our FAQ on this topic, if you hot mule, just say so in your trades.

P.S. Thanks for editing out your map seed N'thraXX

if i found a gheeds, and then found another 1, i would drp the first, Id the second, see which is best, keep that 1 in my inventory, then think about the moral implications of opening up ATMA and hotmuling the original 1. if the second one was crappy i wouldnt bother.

This is the rationale behind using ATMA to hot-mule; i.e., if I drop what I just muled, I'm not duping. If someone follows this, they have technically done the right thing. Please note that the problem is created by how the game saves and reads files while they are in use; it has nothing to do with any problems with ATMA which is only working with the constraints of what is possible. ATMA is an invaluable resource to SP.

For me the problem is a more philosophical one; ATMA is only supposed to allow me to do what people on B.net can do in terms of muling. This is why we also frown on swapping gear between HC and SC characters with ATMA; it is possible because no coding distinction is made on equipment by Diablo 2, but since it wouldn't be possible on B.net, we shouldn't do it either. Hot-muling, to me, falls in the same category.

But, as always, it's everyone's own computer and if everyone is up front about it, I can live with it. I just fear it would be the start of a slippery slope.

One of the big complaints against hot muleing was that it allows you to do something you couldn't do without atma. I agree if you are hot muleing to clear out your stash, so you don't have to go back and clear some monsters from areas again. As to why I think hot muleing to get a second gheeds is allowable is explained below.

If I you were on b.net and had a second gheeds drop you could do the following. Take one gheeds and drop it in town. Take the second gheeds and quit with that character. Rejoin the game with a different char and pick up the gheeds in town with that char. This basically how b.net people mule stuff from one char to another without anybodys help. So it is possible in b.net. but not in SP?

If I find a second gheeds and hot mule it off. I will clearly state so if I decide to sell it.

-What happens if you equip two 'half freeze duration' items? The freeze time goe s down to a quarter?

-If I imbue a Zombie Head with a few specific skill plusses, does the imbueing overwrite these? Can I get specific skill plusses from imbueing?

-Remember hearing something about Hellforge running?!? Impossible, right?

---

-What's the most efficient and quickest way of giving almost all of my stuff to you?

-Should I use rules like 'first come first served', 'only 5 items per round'. Rounds as in, in the first round people post what they want and after a while I give a new list with the remaining items that nobody wanted or missed. Keep doing this until everyone has what they wanted.

-What's the best time for doing this, when are most people online, approx? I'm on GMT +2.

Does the above make any sense to you?
