Last time I checked, it meant finding a rack that consistently drops some elite weapons or armor. Thus if you happen to be lucky, you are awarded with a)an (ethereal) one with correct amount of sockets to make a good runeword b) legit 1.07 unique of a certain type c) 1.07 rare which can have some insane stats.

1.07 ethereal weapons(at least berserker axes) had better damage than the regular(1.09/1.10) weapons.

1.07 should not be thought of as a free pass to great stuff. In general it is much harder, you have no /players command, MF doesn't work right, and a lot of things simply can't be dropped at all.

Rack-running is also extremely boring. You long for the fun and variety of Pindle runs after rack-running for a day.

That said, my 1.07 Shako and completed Griswold set weren't ever going to drop in 1.09, so I suppose it was ultimately worthwhile.

If I install 1.07 and go for rack running what are the items I should be looking for?
And what would be the best places. I know those racks near Mephisto and in the Countess Tower, or would those racks way down to Nihlatak be better?

    Thanks if anyone replies

Even thinking about looting Pindle just one more time makes me a little ill. I'm a racker, yes, but also kill everything I see. It's a bit like pindling except the monsters are more variable and the good drops come from the racks they are standing next to, not from the beasties themselves.

But everyone else says racking is the single most boring aspect of the game. It's probably best to believe them.
