looking for some suggestions Hey guys I have a lvl 75 hammerdin, doing about 4k dam with best equiptment, but ive seem to have hit a wall as far as getting better gear. I cant mf in hell cause I need better gear and I dont find better gear in NM. I am used to playing with a friend which makes it easier to get gear. So I guess Im looking for suggestions on cheap but effective gear, and just general strategies on getting better gear alone. I appreciate the ideas. Ben
What equipment are you wearing atm? Some cheap and effective gear would be -Wizspike -Vipermagi -Spirit Shield(decent shield with decent resis are not that hard to find.) and insight for your merc Edit: Welcome to the Forums.
A Spirit Sword and Shield make great mid level hammerdin gear, and aren't too hard to make or come across. The Sword in any 4 socket one with low str/dex requirements, and the Shield in any paladin-only shield with nice resists and block%. That's +4 skills, 110% FHR (awesome) and 50%-70% FCR, getting you to the 48% breakpoint easily. Lore (Ort+Sol) helm is another mid level wonder, +1 all skills, 30% lightning resist and 7 PDR. Peasant Crown is just as good. Magefists and Trang-Oul's gloves are the only 2 gloves you want to think about using. Each has it's pros and cons. Combined with the Spirit sword/shield can get you ro 75% FCR, if the Spirits' FCR add to above 55%. Faster casting will increase your killing speed by quite a bit. Spirit Shroud, Vipermagi, Que-hegan's wisdom, Skullder's Ire, Guardian Angel all make decent armours. Each of those grants you +1 skills. If you're lacking in resists, then Smoke (Nef+Lum) armour has 50 resist all, 10 energy among other things. Any amulet found or gambled with +1-2 Paladin or Combat skills and other mods is good.
I like the 'Black' runeword. Thul+Io+Nef I believe. 40% chance of crushing blow- put it in a knout if possible for the speed. I like to combine that runeword with and upgraded rattlecage armor (for it's chance for crushing blow)-you could have Larzuk add a socket for a P'topaz for MF if you wanted. I hit the 'wall' in hell, too, and adding the crushing blow got me through.
tell me, what would hammerdin do with a crushing blow? *priit2 Smite bosses, duh Spirit Shield is probably going to be the best and most affordable item for you. Make sure to try and find a decent shield with good blocking and resists to make the runeword.
I am currently wearing gris armor, with 2 ptops working on third, lore helm, magefist, soe, weapon is a +2 to skills rare, shield is some unique some idiot tried to make a runeword out of thats ok, i have an alma negra that i socketed with pdiam i will use at lvl 77. Im looking for a wizspike if anyone has one pretty cheap. Thanks for all the suggestions
if you need cheap but effective gear try using this combination, i used it for a while until i could get some godly gear and i was doing around 8k if i rember correctly helm: shako w/ ptopaz weapon: atlantean armor: guardian angel w/ptopaz shield: spirit runeword gloves: chancies boots: any war travs belt: up'd goldwrap so you have 16spots rings: 2 30% nagels ammy: +3 combat with mf
fair not the best by any means but i survived...just couldnt go rushing into things had to take my time a bit
