looking for a new game to play

i'm getting kind of bored with diablo 2 (been playing it for over 3 years) and am wondering if there are any other good diablo 2-like games? what i mean are hack-and-slash RPGs with no annoying puzzles. i definitely do not like turn-based fighting, and no D&D garbage either.
also, plz don't tell me to try different character builds...thank you.

well knights of the old republic is a nice rpg, allthough way too short lived. it has nice grafics and some nice high pace battles.

I have always all been under the impression that there is nothing quite like diablo though... iam holding my breath for diablo III:drool: . iam sure it will be the greatest game of 2030 :cheesy:

if you have a Ps2 and a cable internet connection check out Everquest: Champions of Norrath...

i know you think you have to pay but no, its free.

5 differnt races, choice between male and female, craft your own wepons, co op play, crazy *** skills. its a beautiful looking game the resolution is the highest capable on the Ps2 and if you can get the head set attachment it makes the game even better.

its online and off line, up to 4 can play... and you and your friends can rock 2-4 person games, share items. i have found it to be one of the best platform RPGs out.

Ya Sacred isnt bad at all. You can even get the demo and try it out first before you buy it.

Is that a different game than the regular Everquest? I tried the original EverQuest a few years ago. I didn't like it because it was a turn based game, took too long to do anything fun, and didn't have the time to invest in my characters. Anyway, I personally found it to be lacking the arcade style action that D2 has.

It's not available yet and so doesn't answer your question ... but ...

Anyone have any experience with Guild Wars? Its in alpha development now and testers have to sign an NDA :innocent: but any vague hints would be welcome.

Its being developed by people who had a hand in Starcraft, Warcraft and D2 (i.e ex-Bliz guys). From the site (www.guildwars.com), I see definite echoes of D2. :spy:

I have this game and it is great. If you think it is a copy of Bolder's Gate your wrong. It is very similar to diablo and unlike Bolder's Gate it has a random map and item generator like diablo. Much like Diablo, and very fun to play, especially with 2+ players (I play with my two brothers). And yes, It is a hack em slash em take their items game with quests, and no puzzles.

It's not an RPG or an RTS but you should check out Far Cry, heh.. just got it yesterday.. annoyingly difficult (on normal) but fun when you blow up your first helicopter and watch that stupid little gunner flail helplessly as he falls into the ocean. :D

Sometimes variety is the spice of life, y'know?

If you have a PS2 or Xbox, pick up a copy of either of the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games (2nd one just came out a few months ago, you can probably find the first for cheap.) Champions of Norrath was made by the same studio (Black Isle--so sad to see them closed down.) Also for Xbox, D&D Heroes--it's strickly hack 'n slash and is supposed to be real fun to play with a friend.

I'm also giving Sacred a try, but I can't say I'm terribly impressed so far. But it's gotten good reviews. I'll stick with it for a while, but I'm not tired of Diablo yet. :teeth:

Everquest is everything but a TURN BASED RPG...

If Sacred doesn't do it for you, check out Divine Divinity. It's a bit like Diablo2, from what I've played and heard about it. There's a free demo available, that you can download if you want to test it out.

Would The Sims be considered an RPG/RTS?

I mean, you're strategically playing the role of god to either make these little people succeed or fail. Plus you get to buy lots of cool stuff.

I may have to trade in Far Cry for Double Deluxe.. meh.

Regardless, I found EverQuest not to be a viable replacement for Diablo 2.

I suppose i'm not sure what a turn based game is then. I do know that in EverQuest i would hit the enemy with 15 points of dmg. Then the enemy would hit me with 7 points of dmg. Wash, rinse, repeat. The arcade style action wasn't there.

I bought Sacred on release date and swore that I was finally through with my LOD addiction....yeah, right...

Sacred has great potential, but questing in closed online play still isn't very well implemented, and just exp:ing in Free games gets kind of boring.

So here I am again, having started a new, fresh account and nursing an untwinked Trapper through ladder NM. I got to stop kidding myself and realize that the only thing that can break the D2 curse is D3... :cheesy:
