LLD Sin - Question about shields

Since this other forum went down :sigh: and I have never made a PvP kicker before, I'd thought to ask this here.

I'm making a lvl 18 kicker (HC), and I found this nice rare shield:

Gothic Shield
defense 40
10 Increased Blocking
15 FBR
Half Freeze Duration
17 FHR

Now, what do LLD kickers normally socket their shields with? Do ED (rusty) jewels increase dragon talon damage?

I'm going the elemental route, so I think losing one socket in the shield (when compared to a VBSoD) isn't really the end of the world, especially when I get 5 frame hit recovery (I plan to use Twitch) and half freeze duration <- this could let me use Sigon's trio.

I calculated I lose about 6 points into dex to get max block (due to the lack of deflecting affix), but it really isn't that much life and it would cost me way more life to get 5 frame hit recovery with VBSoD.

Why would you make a level 18 HC pvp'er? I smell pk!!

When lld was existing in the spf, I was actually rolling with a level 18 kicksin.

I didn't like the sound of level 18 elemental route, and our rules also had a limit on elemental damage so I had to play it like a lld smiter :tongue:

IIRC, this was my setup:
1 Bos rest dtalon (our rules also forbid any rushing past act2, so I had trouble's getting a level 18 dtalon while still having that bo sI needed for the bp I desired)

Gear:
Twitch 'pruby' - a given level 18 armor, speed, dex, block, whatnot?
3 socketed mask with 3 prubies
death's touch + sash
Sigon's boots (thereare no better damaging boots at that level iirc, unless you score some leet rares)
Weapon - switchng between crushfangle and that schmitar with OW. I could have tweaked my weapon choices I know.
Shields - switching between sigons shield (+1 skills let me hit level 18 dtalon) and pelta lunata or what its called (I lost a kick, but without +str from crushfangle I couldn't use sigons shield with schimtar setup)

Charms were whatever lifers I had.

Enough about her. It's a nice looking shield if it lets you hit a new fhr bp, else I wouldn't bother.

here's what mine uses, i'm not sure though, since you're going elemental. crap this wont help that much...ohwell already copied and pasted... since you're going elemental wouldnt sig shield be the best since you're doing more damage from +skills arent you?

possible improvements:
when i made her she was only norm rushed. after hell rushing i screwed around with stats and skills. i want to try a fully defensive build with high def armor and as many points into cos as possible.
her scs need work

What do you have socketed on Pelta / Swordback?

If ED jewels dont affect kick damage, I was thinking I'd put in a Perfect Sapphire to get maxed cold res + Half Freeze duration from the shield to counter chill. Another option would be to stick a Perfect Amethyst in it for the nice extra defense.

But I'd really like to know if ED off gear works for talon?

That :evil: and to anti-pk on sewer / whatever runs against chargers.

I think I'm definately going for the Sigon's Setup, the mods are too good to pass. The extra 100 defense would really help, also seeing how chargers dont really get that much AR.

The Sigon's Gloves / Boots / Helm (or shield) setup would be really cool as well, but I don't have good enough life charms to sac a 3x Pruby helm just yet. Otherwise I think I'd run the risk of getting one shotted by a good charge. I'm also missing a gg belt, I had just the thing before the ladder reset

I meant I'm going to use a 6x PTopaz Military Pick. I also have some lightning charms I could use for the extra punch. It should be enough to take out a basic HC pk like :shocked: ... nub :save & exit:

i've got ith sockted in both pelta and swordback.

oh okay. i thought you were going to be using some of the elemental MA skills. idk that kickers are that great at pking in hc because they're eaiser to s/e vs. they're more of a small damage applied many times type of a character. idk i've taken down some shieldless chargers pretty quick though. i've never used any weapon other than crushflange. lmk how it goes.

Doin anti-pk is a waste of time. You will have no chance of success! Pkers dont play fair. They use tppkl to kill. They are in town when you die so you have no way of hurting them. See they launch a killing blow at you, take a tp to town and go hostile in under a second. So you just die and if you some how survive they are sitting in town all safe and untouchable.
