LLD help pls

Ok so i used to twink when i played wow and now that ive come back to d2 and want to do something similar. Ive heard about low level dueling. Can anyone give me some info on this. Like common items or classes/builds. Im not sure where exactly this would go but im just looking for some info about it

Might give a short answer here aswell. Many llds likes to keep some secrecy to their builds but as they hide details from me I guess I can't accidetaly "give it away"

LLD/MLD can be done at many levels, common levels being 9/15/18/29/30/35/49

At level 9 close to all builds are physical dmg, large charms of up to +15life and jewels of Wrath (+9 max) are the standard equipment to stand out from the crowd. But truly expensive jewels with more than +9 max can spawn (prefix and suffix) Smiters and kickers are functional aswell, they get some crushing blow intead of +max dmg.

At level 18 you might see an occasional caster, but most are still physical dmg chars. Now you get access to Jewels of Carnage (+15max) and Small charms with up to +15 Life.

At level 29 casters are outnumbering melee, this due to additions such as Stone of Jordan, Skin of the Viparmagi and Peasant Crown (or possibly rare circlet) level 30s also gets their top their skill and the possibility of +2skilltree affixes on rare amulets and circlets. At lvl 21 however melee chars got access to "Sharp Gcs and Lcs, aswell as "Fine scs" so they're not out of the picture either.

At level 49 (MLD) Skill charms are available for the casters, and the powerhouse known as "Oath" gets available for melee chars. Lots of endgame items are also available already.

So as a first character i was thinking of making a fire sorc. I like them and they seem like they would do welll in the 29 or 30 bracket. if somone could help me with gear, skills, and stat build that would be great. Just from a glance i was thinking. Spirit crystal sword and spirit either dragon shield or kite shield. I know that fireballers need fcr these seem to be the best caster weapons either way. A skins of the viper for chest would also give me fcr and resists, both of which i would need. Now as far as helms are concerned, im sure that there are some gg rare circlets available but besides that, peasants crown seems like it would work well. Also a +2 to fire skills ammy with fcr and the usual other mods. Magefists for gloves. Im guessing some sort of rare belt with fhr or something. Now as far as rings go do i want 2 sojs or 2 fcr rare rings with other mods. and i assume there are good rare boots as well. Life and mana scs or resistence scs for the inventory.

As far as skills go, ill have 41 skill points i believe(might have done the math wrong though) and 175 skill points.

For skill points i was thinking 1 in telekinesis, 1 in teleport, 18 in firebolt, 20 in fireball and 1 in firemastery. Meteor has many prereqs and normally wouldnt hit anyways. Putting more points in firemastery would result in a lower increase in damage because beyond the first level, the increases are so much less then the 14% gained by firebolt.

As i dont know what exactly my gear is i cant really allocate my stat points but im assuming since this llding i wouldnt go for max block and just dump points into vita after my str reqs were finished.

Spirit is out, only elite shields get 4 sockets and are way out of your level range and strength budget. Visceraunt is a good sorc-only choice, +1 skills and good blocking.

Your skill points look good - maybe drop a point into warmth if you want more mana but it's personal taste (you have numerous skill adders so IMO, 1 hard point is worth the slight damage drop).

At level 30 you can't quite max fireball, slvl 19 is max for clvl 30. Drop that extra point into firebolt or warmth.

Personally, I would max block. A 30 hammerdin could have an insight partizan on switch and would just love to crack you with it. Walk around until you're sure that your opponent is nonmelee, then switch run on.

I'd say it's worth going for 105 FCR with a non-timered build.
35 spirit sword
20 magefists
10 ammy (+2 fire , 10 fcr = yum)
30 vipermagi
10 rare ring

Rare belts can be good, string of ears, nightsmoke and bladebuckle are also decent choices. I like sanders riprap for boots, for 15 stats and 40 FRW. You can beat this with a rare but sanders are flat out easy to find.

For fire sorc i would use:

helm: 2+ fire, 20 fcr, other nice mods circlet

Amu: 2+ fire, 10 fcr, other nice mods.

Armor: Viper

Shield: viscerautant something. nice for maxblock and +1 skills. socket it with a nice jewel.

Belt: crafted with fcr/fhr/str/life/mana/res or u can use nightsmoke.

Gloves: Magefist, 1+ skill, 20 fcr blabla.

Boots: cow king boots, one of the best boots for lld. gives 20 dex, nice for maxblock.

Weapon: spirit crystal sword.

Switch: Insight staff with es/cold armor/or other skills u might want.

Rings: 2 sojs. with other stuff u reach 105 fcr, so fcr rings arent needed.

Inventory: life sc's, life/mana sc's, fhr/mana gc's.

Skills:

1 fire master, 20 fire bolt, 1 warmth, 1 tele, rest fireball. this is non es setup.

This is an idea for a fire sorc, only played light sorc at lvl 30 so.

Build with maxblock beacuse ur gonna need it Build so u reach 86 fhr, and 105 fcr.

This is just what i would do, and maybe it gives u some insight on how to build ur sorc.

Yeah. Iono i think spirit shield>visc. I mean 55 fhr 35 fcr... that means i easily meet both breakpoints. Maybe i can even hit the 142 fhr with that. Why not max fireball over firebolt? other than that it seems along the lines of what i was thinking

You cannot use a Spirit Shield in LLD, you need a Monarch to socket it in which not only requires 156 str but has a lvl req way higher than any lld.

Well if you do hell rush u get enough points to max fireball and firebolt. what i meant was to put 1 in fire mastery, 1 teleport, 1 warmth, then max firebolt and fireball.
And spirit shield is pretty hard to use for lvl 30 sorc. only lld paladins can use spirit shield.
visc is good enough to use with sorc.

AGAIN a spirit shield is NOT hard to use for a lvl 30 sorc, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to use for a lvl 30 sorc.

Only monarch, ageis and ward have 4 sockets and can be made into spirit shields which requires FOUR runes and their lvl req are 54+ (and also the pally's shield can be made into spirits).

Ahh thanks for the clarification. I forgot that it wasn't monarch class shields that could be 4 socketed but rather just monarch shields themselves.
Would visc then be the best option?

Visc is usually the standard staple for a fire sorc. Its what you socket it with that makes it unique to certain sorc's. Some choose str/dex/etc jewels, i just went the cheap/effective way of using a eld to increase the block on it.
