Linksys router

So.... my parents decided to buy a linksys router. I heard they're kinda bad...
My question is: are they actually as bad as people say they are, or are they usable or even good? Model is WRT310N
edit: got my ip static.

Kind of bad? I have had the same WRT54G for 5-6 years. I've never once had an issue with it. My parents each have the same model and neither of theirs has had any problems either.

*shrugs* just going by what I heard.

Kinda sucks that I have to reforward all my ports when I change routers.

Re: Linksys router

wrt54g routers are great hardware

some have firmware problems
random crahsing, and non adjustable limits for open ports ect..

flashed mine with dd-wrt, havent rebooted it in a long time
if your going to be sure to read the wiki and flash the thing in the correct order
different vers req different steps and firmwares

Re: Linksys router

I have a the el-cheapo one with no WLAN at home (€20 IIRC), only for cable-based networks (saves wearing a tinfoil hat ). I plugged it in and in and did the usual configuration things and since then it works without any problems.

Regarding port forwarding, I noticed that you have to save the forwarding rules each time you change an entry. If you change two of them at once and save then, it won't work properly. Don't ask me why, I also had that with another router, from a different vendor.
